The rundown on how everyone's going:
Tango's dad called me mid afternoon to thank me for helping him. They thought the worst had happened for a few hours because Tango's mom and Charles had tickets for that first American Airlines flight, but Charles had still felt sick when they got to the airport so they'd changed the flight. The new flight landed in Indianapolis because all planes have been grounded and they're staying in a hotel for the night before figuring out if they should wait for a different plane to his college or take the bus home. They found out when they got called by an airport payphone. That must have been the best call of their lives.
My dad and Joey are also fine; they stayed on a hotel decently far from the WTC. Joey had gone to South Tower in the morning but left after the first was hit despite intercoms saying it was fine. Something about a gut feeling. He missed the second tower strike and they were both evacuated from Lower Manhattan and are currently staying with one of Joey's friends in Brooklyn. Joey fears for people he knows in the towers so Dad said he's staying with him until that's figured out and Mom shouldn't call in case they tie up the line for something more important.
Kel's school kept it hidden from the students but his parents turned up anyway to get him. Aubrey's school tried to keep running but everyone ditched anyway. Kel's parents almost drove several hours to find Hero but Hero repeatedly insisted he was fine where he is in Rhode Island.
Basil's parents were on a technology-free rest for the day and completely missed it. Mom's phone call was the first they'd heard. I feel sorry for her.
