Health update
can not recommend getting erysipelas. it's hell. i hope the antibiotics start working soon and i feel better soon.
long story short, yesterday i woke up with a red, glowing, tight, painful leg and it gradually got worse. asked some people what they thought it might be, and we did have a suspicion. called the emergency doctor's office (since it was past normal doctor's office hours) and explained everything. they wanted to see me asap, so someone drove me over to the hospital. after i had taken an ibuprofen, just to be safe, it had gotten a bit better. doctor said that just taking ibuprofen for a few days would probably solve it. went home, still kind of worried and barely slept at all due to it flaring up more during the night.
at morning, i called someone to check up on me just in case, he reccomend calling the doctor's office again. advice was to take it easy, keep using ibuprofen and keep a close eye on it. went on with my day, doing fun things with the family. in hindsight, that only made things worse. when i came home, it looked significantly worse. the cause; probably too much pressure on my leg and moving around too much. i didn't trust it, so had someone else look at it. we called the doctor's office together and they once again asked me to come in. so, once more, we plopped ourselves into the car and drove over there. another doctor looked at it, and i got a conclusive diagnosis this time: erysipelas, in dutch known as "wondroos". it hurts, it burns, i feel extremely exhausted and i think i have a teeny fever building up now, but i am not too worried. doctor said she suspects it has nothing to do with the open blister i've had on my foot for like a week (because the wound itself looks well healed and healthy), but she suspected it might be a possible unnoticed bug bite. prescribed me a huge dose of antibiotics and also several tablets meant for allergies (in case somehow my body has decided to react aggressively to a particular bite). they should also help with pain and burning, but sadly, so far they don't seem to help much.
i am tired. i am so tired of always having something going on health-wise lately. at this point i kind of just want to roll over and die, ngl. and mind you, i've only been suffering from this for a little over 24 hours. 4 doctor calls and 2 hospital visits later, it should now get better. it all happened so fast, and apparently it's a good thing i reacted accordingly and trusted my gut feeling, because this infection can rapidly get worse (well, whoo boy, it can) and permanently damage your lymphatic system if left untreated for too long. people end up in the hospital for this shit sometimes.
tl;dr: always trust your gut instinct when it comes to your health. it might just save you lots of pain and permanent complications. i had never seen anything like this before, so i instantly knew it was serious.
