Awwwe, yeah! #somekindanerve #melissaferrick #alexa #echoshow
One of my favorite parts of @melissaferrick's shows are the in-between song bits because not only is she an amazing songwriter she's also a very expressive storyteller. I really hope I get to see her perform again this Friday in Albany. This is the year I bleed music. #melissaferrick #storytelling #songwriter #yearofmusic
Waiting for @melissaferrick to start!!! 45 mins and counting:) #chicagocitywinery #melissaferrick
This week is a big anniversary! "The Truth Is" by @MelissaFerrick turns two years old today. We're celebrating by unveiling a new previously unreleased live video every day until Thursday. The videos are from Melissa's performance at @RedStarUnion back in 2012, where the songs were presented with raw stripped-back arrangements. Today's song is "Home!" As part of the celebration, we're offering 50% off Melissa's catalog! Enter the discount code "THETRUTHIS" at the MPress store to get the deal. #musicmonday #mm #music #melissaferrick #thetruthis #cdreleaseanniversary #celebrate #home #discount #instavid #video #redstarunion #pridemonth

SO YOU WANT TO BE A ROCK N ROLL STAR?
STEP #1: Say Yes
The trait I most owe my career as a musician to is my tendency, I dare say compulsion even, to answering “yes.” Comparatively “no” is so easy. Nothing changes or needs to be figured out with “no.” The needle doesn’t move with “no.” “No” makes sense. But “yes”? “Yes” requires figuring out how to move your schedule, write the song, make it work financially, convince the unconvinced, risk the title, step outside of the comfort zone.
I can still remember the sheer terror I felt when I realized that in order to say “yes” to Melissa Ferrick who had offered me my first tour out of the Northeast in 2001, I would have to commit to being away from home for two straight weeks. I wasn’t even married then and already I couldn’t imagine how that would work with a girlfriend. I didn’t at all know if I actually had the ability to entertain people in exotic places like Savannah, GA and West Palm Beach, FL. As for the economic prospects...let’s just say “on paper” it was a bad idea. But when you have to play original music and an opportunity comes to play original music in cities across the country, what do you say? You say “YES”! No problems, only solutions.
More often than not though, this is where the weeding out happens. One word can distinguish those who end up doing this job for their living versus those who say they want the gig, but find reasons not to do it when faced with the reality of what it entails. There’s no shame in not making ones living through ones art, but where we run amuck is that we make it about something it’s not. Circumstances, market forces, timing, luck, talent, appearance, ‘who ya know’, the list goes on and on, but it’s really just about...”yes.”
#melissaferrick killed it tonight btw at #clubpassim 💖✨🌀 that is all ✌️
