This whole things sounds harder than it actually is:

Alternate interior angles are the angles (a pair of angles) that are created when two lines are crossed by another line (called transversal). They are:

on opposite sides of the transversal (↴ alternate)

both inside of the crossed lines(↴ interior) .

In this example, c and f and e and d are alternate interior angles. If the two crossed lines are parallels then alternate interior angles are equal in measure. 

Same side interior angles are pretty much the same thing except they are not on opposite sides of the transversal but on the same side. In the picture above, f and d and e and c are same side interior angles.  If the two crossed lines are parallels then the same side interior angles add up to 180°.

Corresponding angles are angles that appear in the same 'corner' when two lines are crossed by a transversal.

  In this example, e and a are corresponding angles but also:

g and c

f and b

h and d

If the two crossed lines are parallels then the corresponding angles are equal in measure.

Angles are vertical when they are created by two lines that cross are not adjacent. For the picture above, g and f are vertical angles but also:

e and h

d and a

b and c

Vertical angles are equal in measure.

You have a linear pair of angles when the angles are adjacent and supplementary (add up to 180°). For the picture above, e and g are a pair of linear angles but also:

g and h

h and f

f and e

c and a
