Do you prefer traditional drawing, or digital?I don’t really have a favourite tbh, I quite like using coloured inks and acrylic paint etc and I’m still learning to use photoshop really :’D tho I quite like it, and I’ve been practicing more with it this pas semester How many classes have you taken?I took like a sort of introductory class for the school I’m now studying at. The introductory class was every saturday for 6 months or so, and I’ve been studying at this art academy for 3 years now. My high school was also pretty pro-art, so we had a more general art class which focused on doing all kinds of different things really, paper mache, wire wrapping (making your own jewelry), drawing, making sculptures, building sets for our school plays :P and we had another class which had a different gues teacher every few weeks, so we’ve been taught how to draw manga :’D, how to tag (graffiti), how to make a shadow puppet theater, how to make a stop motion etc, I loved this class :) We also had art history, and music history as well (which was supposed to be normal music class, but our teacher was like ‘nah fuck that, imma teach the history of music instead of having to listen to you idiots trying to play an instrument’)What’s your favorite thing to draw?I’m going to have to go with mermaids. Also mythological creatures. And fauns. Deer in general are pretty cool. Also cats. And flowy hair. And pretty ladies. Self portraits, anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour. Honestly it completely depends on how much time I want to spend on it. I’ve noticed that my study has taught me how to look differently at art, it doesn’t matter if it’s a comic, or a renaissance painting, or a modern sculpture, I can see what I believe are the ‘flaws’, and explain why I don’t like those specific aspects, or why they disrupt the image etc. So yes, I think/hope I can critique someone’s work, and hopefully help them improve :)What is the most difficult thing for you to draw?…Hands. For digital artists: how many layers does a typical piece require?Again, it depends on the style, I just finished a 5 page comic, each page had max 8 layers, including the sketch and the white background. But I also have a soap design thing with like 25 layers. So.For traditional artists: How do you usually start on a big piece? (Light sketch, colored lead, sketchpaper, etc)Sketchessssssssss, ya know, normal pencil on paper. I don’t use any fancy smancy stuff for my sketching.
