Friends, I spent a half an hour looking up articles about mellotrons on my school's database browser, and probably thoroughly confused my roommate's datemate's roommate with my love of mellotrons b/c I found one about mellotrons and the Beatles and just knew she would love it. And then theo proceeded to talk about my mellotron "problem" to her, and it's really just been an odd night.

So I was was watching moody blues videos on YouTube (like the trash I am) and I stumbled upon one where mike pinder explains how the mellotron works an so first off, whoa super neat. But more importantly, there's a bit where they show how the tapes move while the mellotron is being played and it's really satisfying? For like two reasons. One is just watching the tapes move up and down, it's mesmerizing. The other is the soft little hiss and clunk that happens when the note is stopped being played and tape returns to it's place. It's just. I could watch a loop of that for like an hour and not get bored

So my roommate and I just looked up mellotron merch on amazon. And lemme tell you, there's a lot of wonderful nerdy shit on there about mellotrons. I want it.

Apparently it's calming for me to scroll through pictures of mellotrons on google images. I am a nerd.

My roommate and I just yell "mmmmmmmmellotrons!" at each other sometimes and I think that's beautiful
