DDR NIGHT. Featuring Artie! A melodine by my friend Blue!
Melodine
Prolly gonna make a new tumblr acc but hello I just wanted 2 check in 4 a bit.
I restyled Melodine’s bangs. Maybe I’ll even cut the front pieces. I might have to cut the rest in order to do her bun and leave a long piece for the braid, if I decide to go there. For now I’m satisfied with her side part. Weird, I have 4 Shoppies and 3 of the have yellow eyes and ponytails. I like that they’re all different skin tones though.
Melodine 🎶 (+ lil Melodine for comparison)
So a friend of mine told me they were thinking of making a music-powered robot OC like Happy Buster, so I sketched this out.
And I'm nothing if not way too willing to just throw stuff out there so y'know what y'all get this, too.
and a bonus HB character sheet. y'know as an example.
if you make an OC using this concept feel free to tag it with #melodine
or don't i'm not a cop.
Puffed: Rosie Bloom
I guess I officially like Lil Shoppies now. I finally found Melodine again last month so I got her. I’ve already lost her music book somewhere. I also got the Kirstea and Tippy Lil Shoppies. Even though I wasn’t a fan of the little Cocolette, I saw the bigger doll online and would like to have that version, but I can’t find it in person up here, and it’s expensive online because of either the sellers or the shipping. I have had the Puppy Patio version of Rosie for a couple weeks unopened until today. I like the figure more than the accessories, but even those aren’t bad (except for the boots, what am I supposed to do with those?), and she was five dollars off so I went ahead and got her too. She might be the cutest out of all the Lil Shoppies I’ve seen.
One thing I noticed after unboxing Rosie was that she was wearing overall shorts, at least I think they are supposed to be shorts but they still fit like a dress. I had an old character with a red petal dress, green leafy tights, headband and a flower in her hair so maybe that’s why I like Rosie, or the fact that she is just super cute with her little ponytails and red and green color scheme. Now this character actually reminds me more of Blossom Flowerpot than Rosebud Longstem, particularly the version of Blossom that came with the Lalaloopsy house.
Before that I had also sketched out a Powerpuff version and a regular version of Melodine. I decided to clean up the regular version. The colors are sort of a cross between the figure and the artwork. I don’t know if they plan to make a regular sized version of Melodine but I hope that if they do, they do it right. Rosie got jipped with that party doll. It’s not nearly as cute as the Happy Places version.
Shoppies: Melodine
I found Melodine at Walgreens today for 11.99. I like the Happy Places version better, so when pics of the large one first leaked I wasn’t a big fan of the changes, but I still like the doll. Funny thing is, I never saw her in the main stores like Walmart, but other places like Burlington Coat Factory around Christmas time and of course Walgreens.
There’s nothing special about this line so she comes with the same ol’ same ol’. Her accessories are 2 Shopkins (La La Cupcake and Baby Grand), a VIP card, a brush, and a stand. The piano has a little pink treble clef sign on it. This one and Rosie’s flower basket are my favorites.
I don’t have a piano for Melodine, but I do have this Barbie keyboard and a knock-off Barbie sized grand piano that I painted white.
I’m convinced that the purple Barbie and the Rockers piano that comes with two Chelsea-sized dolls would suit her well. Lori and My Life As also make miniature pianos in their ballet play sets. The Lori one’s the nicest, but Target doesn’t sell it anymore. How cute was that set though?
Mini Keys and Lil Melodine, maybe they can piano battle like Daffy and Donald Duck did in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”.
Melodine’s not my favorite Shoppie. She’s not bad, I just think she should have looked more like the Lil Shoppie. Her gold eye shadow makes her look more mature, and her hairstyle’s not as cute. I might try to change it a little. The outfit is nice but her headband is so different it’s hard to compare. Still, this doll has a distinctive and unique look among Shoppies that makes her interesting, and you can’t go wrong with a piano theme.
