Frequently Asked Questions!

Do I have to sing well to participate?

This is a singing project.  We understand not everyone has an extreme level of talent but please understand that if you are cast, you will be asked to be posting recordings of your singing on a regular basis.

Is there an age limit for auditions?

Yes, you must be at least 16 years of age or older.

Are there standards for me if I am cast?

Yes, we hold our cast members to a fair amount of standards.  You may learn more about this by reading our Cast Rules and Regulations. Every cast member is absolutely expected to be well versed in these rules, for if they break one of them they may be at risk for removal from the group.

Is [insert character here] open?/Do you have any auditions for [insert character here]?

The answer for this question can always be found in the cast list.  Characters with no text beside their name have received less than three auditions and do not have a set deadline yet.  We will not be directly answering questions about how many auditions have been received for each character because we feel it is not relevant - if you send in a good enough audition, you will get the part regardless of who else has sent in an audition.  Related to that, being the first person to audition for a character will not give you any kind of priority over others.

Can I audition for a character more than once?

If you feel that you can send a recording that is improved in mic quality, singing quality, or otherwise your situation has changed, then please feel free to send in a new audition!

I don’t have a professional mic or I’m using my laptop/phone to record.  What should I do?

We ask that your equipment is easily able to capture your voice with some clarity, so we may actually hear it.  We also warn against uploading your audition to websites that will warp your recording quality, such as Vocaroo.

Can I audition for more than one character?

Yes.  Someone could potentially send in an audition for each of them, although it’s not recommended.

Can I be more than one character?

Unfortunately, due to the volume of auditions we receive and the demand it takes to run a singing blog, the answer to this question is no.  You can audition for as many as you want, but if we are strongly considering casting you for one character we will often ask which you prefer!

What if I’m casted already, and a new character opens up that I want?

If you choose to audition for a new character (as in, newly added to the list), you may.  However, if you are chosen for the callbacks for the new character, you will be asked to resign the blog you currently have so we may open up auditions for that character again in order to continue with the callback process.  Please keep in mind that there will be a level of risk with this, and if you wish to have the blog of the character you resigned from, you will need to send in a fresh audition for them.

Can I just send in an audition with no character preference, and have you tell me the part I’m playing?

We receive an incredibly high volume of auditions for each character, and oftentimes voices don’t just “fit” character voices the way you might think they do.  This blog requires a level of dedication and passion for the character you’re auditioning for.   You may audition for multiple characters anyway, so there is no problem with indecision.

I can’t upload my song to Tumblr/Tindeck/Soundcloud/etc.?

Several people seem to be having this problem lately, due to a new copyright policy on one or more of these websites.  Please either find an alternate website to upload to, or email it to us at [email protected] and we will count your audition just the same.  If you do these, please go through the normal process of filling out a form and let us know in the form that you’ve sent an audition through email!

What happens if I get a part?

If you receive a part, you will be given control of a blog in which you will post songs you are singing in the voice of your character!  Those songs will be promoted on our main blog here.  You will also be given access to our Skype group, where you may organize collaborations and get to you your fellow Melodious Ladybug voice actors and lyricists.  

I have a character I want to audition for that is not on your list?

If you want to audition a completely separate character that is absolutely not mentioned on our list, please send us an audition anyway!  If we think your voice fits the part, you may just be given the part.  If you are auditioning for a certain version of a character (i.e., Lady Wifi, Antibug), you will simply be weighed against the other auditioners of the same character, and we will not create a separate part for you.

How To Audition

So, you want to join our cast!  Here is how the audition process works:

1. Pick out a character from the cast list.

You may choose any of the lovely available characters to audition for.  If the character you would like to audition for is not on our list, please notify us via ask.  Your gender and the gender of the character is irrelevant - if you voice them well enough, you will get the part.  Auditioners may try out for any number of characters, although it is recommended you only try out for a few.  It is likely that you will only end up with one character part.  If you audition for multiple characters, please send a form for each character.

2. Record your audition.

There are two parts to your audition:

Monologue: At least thirty seconds of spoken dialogue, preferably taken from the show.  If not the show, then a monologue that either fits the character or one taken from a fanfic.  

Song: The main part of your audition!  Please make this at least a minute and a half worth of singing, in your character’s voice.  It may be any song, any genre, just make sure it makes you sound good!  You may do this portion with an instrumental or a capella, but instrumental is preferred.

3. Send in your Google Form.

Follow this link to our form, where you will fill out your information as well as submit the links to your audition!  We will send you a confirmation email once we receive your audition.  You may be called back for more songs.  Good luck!

HOW THE CASTING PROCESS WORKS:

1. Auditions are received.  Auditions come to us through the Google Form, and we listen to each one with equal consideration.  Once we receive 2-3 auditions for any given character, a deadline of a week will be set.  Anyone may ask for an extension of the deadline, but only up to three days.

2. Callbacks are decided.  If there is any difficulty making a decision, callbacks will be announced on the blog, where two or three auditioners will be asked to send in another song from a chosen list.  A deadline will also be set for this. Anyone chosen for callbacks may ask for an extension of the deadline, but again, only up to three days.

3. Parts are decided. The lucky winner gets the part!  They will then be given access to a blog where they may post their songs, access to our Discord group, etc.

Sorry for the inactivity for the past while. I’ve been dealing with sickness and loss in my family and it’s left this blog and Miraculous Positivity on the backburner. I want to start more activity on the blogs but it may be slow going, so please be patient with us!

Hello everyone!

Sorry I was gone for so long. I had this recorded but was having a hard time uploading it. Not to mention I was swamped with making costumes for my friends!

Ever since meeting Tikki and becoming Ladybug, my life has been on the fast track. It gets hard at times, but I wouldn’t trade it for my old life. Having the courage to stand up to Chloe and save the people of the city I love are worth the tardy notices.
