#melodramatic nerds (loving)#i think a major part of why twilight was such a phenomenon and such a long lasting one is the POTENTIAL they had #the contrast between the girl who loves the sun and her ice-cold vampire boyfriend #the knowledge that their love wouldn't last forever because this bella would never be happy as a vampire #so they steal the time they have #and then bella being human and fragile so edward is always anxious while bella isn't concerned for his safety #only for a twilightesque conflict to come up and it's edward in danger rather than her #I know this isn't the twilight we got but god I wish it was #bella changes everything about herself in canon for edward #I wish she'd gotten to stay herself but keep him anyway at least for a while #bella swan #edward cullen #twilight #twilight reformation #ryn dot text

Was just listening to mitski and wow 'me and my husband' really fits ed/bella but like if they had major marriage issues

I love mitski!! and you're absolutely right, that song is EXTREMELY ed/bella during a rough patch. maybe at the end of new moon, when bella's finally going to be a vampire for sure, or in eclipse, when their relationship was in question a few times, or even a few years post-breaking dawn, where I think some of the serendipity ends for bella and she starts living in real life. that song especially would be great for any time that they're going through something but finally decide to lean on each other for support, finally partners and equals.

the only point on which I will concede that bella and edward are somewhat meant for each other is in that they are the exact same brand of melodramatic. edward leaves and bella all but stops existing for months. bella jumps off a cliff and edward decides to reveal himself in the most dramatic and theatrical way possible. idiots the both of them

another thing I noticed about midnight sun is that it's kind of impossible to dislike bella as you read it. the whole book is kind of just edward yelling "BELLA IS THE KINDEST AND BRAVEST AND BESTEST PERSON IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE"
