Proderics and Melodybloom Drop New Single “Wasted Time”
proderics x melodybloom return with their new single “wasted time,” out now via Republic Records.
Following the viral success of “strangers,” proderics (Eric) and melodybloom (Melody) continue to refine their signature sound on “wasted time,” a hazy, emotionally charged track that lingers somewhere between nostalgia and regret. Built on delicate production and understated beats, the song captures the quiet realization of investing too much into something that was never meant to last. melodybloom’s airy vocals glide over proderics’s textured soundscape, giving life to lyrics that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant.
“‘Wasted Time’ has been in the works for a long while, and was always the natural successor to ‘strangers,’” says proderics. “It has such an exciting energy to it. We have been itching to release it ever since the first demo. It has gone through many iterations during its creation, from four minute demos to different variations of verses. This song has definitely been a creative journey for both of us. The version we settled on is our favorite by far, and we are so excited for it to be out.”
Originally inspired by a fleeting crush, melodybloom explains that the song evolved into something more layered and emotionally complex. “This song is about that frustrating cycle of knowing you should not be with someone and that you should walk away, but for some reason, you just cannot,” she says. “When I say ‘Not my fault you wasted time,’ it is me trying to leave, but then later admitting ‘You don’t know I still call you mine,’ which shows that no matter how hard I try, I am pulled back in. It is the push and pull between your mind and your heart, wanting to move on but struggling to find the courage to.”
“wasted time” marks the next chapter for the duo after the breakout momentum of “strangers,” which first dropped in 2024 and quickly caught fire on TikTok, amassing over 100 million streams across platforms. The pair have continued to build a devoted following through their seamless long distance collaboration and distinct sonic identity, further solidified with their follow up release “science - edit.”
Their musical partnership continues to evolve with a series of releases for 2025 and beyond, beginning with “wasted time.”
