One Philly: Unity Concert for America RECAP
Philadelphia and Roc Nation Live delivered one of the country's largest Independence Day celebrations on July 4 as One Philly: Unity Concert for America brought together a large crowd of celebrants from near and far on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for a historic evening of music, culture, and community in honor of America's 250th anniversary.
Produced by Roc Nation Live, the free concert featured unforgettable performances from Will Smith, The Roots, Jill Scott, Jordan Davis, Meek Mill, Seal, State Property, Kathy Sledge, Infinity Song, Tierra Whack with Wanda Sykes serving as host throughout the evening.
The historic event transformed the Benjamin Franklin Parkway into a citywide celebration, featuring immersive fan activations spotlighting Philadelphia neighborhoods, surprise collaborations, greetings to the public by Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and performances spanning R&B, pop, country, gospel, and soul, ending with a brilliant fireworks display over the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Among the night's standout moments, Seal had the crowd swaying to his classics, “Kiss From a Rose” and “Fly Like an Eagle.” Jordan Davis brought the country to Philly with “Turn This Truck Around” and “Buy Dirt.” “Philadelphia’s own Jill Scott brought the hometown crowd to its feet with "Golden,” “Long Walk” and "Norf Side," bringing out Tierra Whack as a surprise guest performer.
Severe thunderstorms following Jill Scott’s performance resulted in a nearly three-hour weather delay. The concert resumed around midnight with a performance by Philadelphia native DJ Aktive, whose set brought attendees back together and reignited the energy of the celebration. Following welcome-back remarks from the Mayor, The Roots took the stage, opening with "Here I Come" and a special rendition of "Jungle Boogie/Soul Makossa." Throughout the performance, The Roots were joined by Kathy Sledge, State Property, Meek Mill, and Will Smith with DJ Jazzy Jeff, who performed fan favorites including "He's the Greatest Dancer," "Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop," "Dreams and Nightmares," and "Summertime"!
Ken Carson Drops New Album 'xperiment'
Multi-platinum, Billboard No. 1 recording artist Ken Carson enters his next era with the release of his highly anticipated fifth studio album, xperiment, via Opium/Interscope Records. Pushing his sound into uncharted territory, the 22-track project arrives following a streak of career milestones that have propelled him to new heights, further establishing him as one of rap’s most talked-about artists. The album blends melodic moments with his signature high-energy sound, marking a creative shift that seamlessly balances intensity with more emotionally driven elements.
xperiment features production from Ken’s trusted collaborators including AM, F1LTHY, starboy, Outtatown, DJ Moon, and more, alongside 2hollis, who produced “shadeson,” which Ken performed as the closing song of his Rolling Loud California 2026 set. Ken remains closely involved in production throughout the album, continuing to build with producers who have helped define his sound. Built on his high-energy DNA, the project reflects an evolution in his career and a continued push to expand creative boundaries. It includes collaborations with Destroy Lonely on “shopping” and Playboi Carti on “deaf note,” as well as “wedidit” which Ken and Carti performed together during Carti’s closing set at Summer Smash. The project also reunites him with Lil Uzi Vert on “ghost” and Young Thug on “drug kit.”
Ahead of the album’s release, the ever-evolving world of xperiment sparked speculation throughout the year. Ken further fueled anticipation by revealing the cover art, which features a USB inserted into his neck as part of the project’s central concept and visual language. In addition, the project expands his cinematic universe through a series of short films that build out its eerie visual world, leaning into sci-fi, suspense, and surreal storytelling. Watch the full series, directed by Joy Divizn: Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3, Episode 4, Episode 5, Episode 6..
Bringing the world of xperiment into the real world, Ken will celebrate the album's release with an immersive three-day pop-up in London, where fans can experience the project through exclusive merchandise, limited-edition apparel, and physical editions of the album. The pop-up will take place July 3–4 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and July 5 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Lab Store Westend.
This era builds on an unprecedented run for the Atlanta native. His 2025 album, More Chaos, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, earning him his first chart-topping album, while 2023's critically acclaimed A Great Chaos propelled his career to new heights, landing on year-end Best Albums lists from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and Complex. This year alone, Ken has continued to raise the bar. He was announced as a headliner for ComplexCon 2026 as part of Opium's takeover of the festival's 10th anniversary celebration in Los Angeles, where he will headline on Saturday, October 3. In June, he delivered a career-defining performance at Rolling Loud California 2026, closing the Under Armour Stage with his first-ever Sunday night headlining festival set. As Billboard wrote, "Carson delivered the kind of set that felt bigger than just another festival performance."
Up next, Ken will bring xperiment overseas for a major international festival run, with appearances at Roskilde Festival in Denmark, Splash! Festival in Germany, Openair Frauenfeld in Switzerland, Clout Festival in Poland, and Frequency Festival in Austria. Beyond the stage, Ken has continued to expand his cultural footprint through sold-out touring and fashion collaborations, including his sold-out “WTF” headline tour across Europe and the UK, Playboi Carti’s “Antagonist 2.0 Tour,” and collaborations with Affliction, SKIMS x Cactus Plant Flea Market, and Jesse Jo Stark’s Deadly Doll line.
A Great Chaos marked a breakthrough. More Chaos raised the stakes. xperiment pushes his artistry into new territory.

FATT SMAXK DROPS "UP THE SCORE" MUSIC VIDEO
Breakout Atlanta rapper Fatt Smaxk has just shared the accompanying music video for last Friday’s single “UP THE SCORE” – out now. The single dives right back into Fatt Smaxk’s hustler-inspired sound, bottling the best of the last decade of Atlanta rap’s beats, flows, and mentality into another smash hit. The accompanying video doubles down on his narrative-first instincts, giving viewers a look into the world his music represents. “UP THE SCORE” arrives on the heels of Fatt Smaxk topping the #1 (“Butta B”) and #2 (“Smaxk or Die”) top songs in Billboard’s May Atlanta Strip Club chart, as well as his highly-anticipated link up with Playboi Carti for the "Smaxk or Die" remix, which was released alongside an accompanying music video last month. Re-upping on Fatt Smaxk's breakout solo hit “Smaxk or Die” (4M+ Streams), this version added a guest verse from Playboi Carti, with the duo shooting the music video together in Atlanta and Fatt Smaxk giving an exlusive interview to The FADER.
Fatt Smaxk is one of the fastest-rising artists coming out of Atlanta, building a name through his gritty delivery, melodic instincts, and raw storytelling. His breakout records “Butta B” (23M+ Streams) and “Smaxk or Die” have fueled a major wave of momentum across DSPs, social media, and Southern markets, positioning him as one of Atlanta’s emerging voices to watch in 2026. “Butta B”, a deeply personal tribute to his late friend, quickly connected with fans and helped elevate Fatt Smaxk’s profile nationally. Following the record’s viral rise, the official music video surpassed 2.5 million views and trended on YouTube, while his catalog continues to gain traction across streaming platforms. With co-signs from Atlanta heavyweights including Lil Baby, Future, Playboi Carti, and Bunna B, Fatt Smaxk is steadily expanding beyond the South and establishing himself as a breakout artist to watch.
MAIYA THE DON DROPS NEW ALBUM 'PRECIOUS CARGO'
Maiya The Don has touched down with Precious Cargo, out now via MNRK Music Group, and the Brooklyn rapper is the high-value freight, her name stamped right on the manifest. Fifteen tracks of luxury, honesty, and pure New York energy, made independent and entirely on her own terms. The flex was never the bag or the cars. It was always known she was the cargo, worth protecting with everything you have.
She makes that case one track at a time. It opens with "Safe Sex," Maiya putting her girls on: “I feel like Bey, I’ve been running around with Destiny’s Child.” Then, almost under her breath, she names the loneliness that comes when you take off, and everyone shows up at once. The bravado and the truth, side by side, the whole album in one song. "Let’s Be Clear" is pure confidence, the kind that does not raise its voice. "TEN" turns self-love into a hook you scream back at your own reflection. "Miss Irresponsible" is her spending freely with nothing left to prove.
Then the guard drops. On "Annie (Have Me)," she writes the hardest letter on the album, an unflinching reckoning with her mother, the childhood she had to get through alone, and the fear of one day becoming a parent. It is the most personal record she has made, the moment the album’s title stops being a metaphor: a girl who was not always treated as precious, refusing now to be handled as anything less. "Hear Me Now" answers it with pure defiance, the overlooked and underrated Brooklyn don, double major and all, demanding to be felt if she will not be heard. "TOO MUCH" brings the album’s lone guest, Kai Cash, and the new single "WBT" struts in like it owns the place, all ice and untouchable attitude. By the time it lands on "Handle With Care," the cargo has named itself.
“So much life has happened. Precious Cargo explains it all. La Bella Donna came back for you, and to be clear, this run is personal.” — Maiya The Don
None of this came from nowhere. Before the designer trunks and the airport tarmac, there was a girl in Brooklyn, adopted at fifteen, the oldest daughter who learned early to carry everyone else before herself. She studied clinical and abnormal psychology and planned to become a therapist, then built a following as a makeup creator on TikTok before walking away from the safe money to chase rap. "Telfy" made her a name, her debut Hot Commodity put Ty Dolla $ign on the boards, and the room took notice fast.
Latto, the Grammy-nominated hitmaker, called her out by name. Flo Milli took her on tour. The New York Times Magazine wrote her into “The Future of Rap Is Female,” and XXL stamped her onto its Freshman cover. The work that mattered most happened off the page. She poured herself into fitness and her own mental health, treating discipline and self-care as the foundation on which everything else is built, and started The Fine Print, a book club where she reads alongside the same women who see themselves in her music. It was self-respect.
She has spent her whole career learning to treat herself like something worth holding onto. Precious Cargo is the sound of her finally doing it, out loud, for everyone.

Every time I say a prayer, I get bright," Dro raps before declaring, "Do my own shit, nigga Dro ain't like the rest," celebrating faith, independence, and the everyday blessings that define his success. Upon release, Billboard selected "Knuckle" as one of its R&B/Hip-Hop Fresh Picks of the Week, writing, "His style on songs like 'Knuckle' is effortless as he talks with a calm slickness over throwback beats that still manage to sound futuristic." Jace! Drops New Album and Video
With a massive underground fanbase and a determination to prove his versatility, Jace! seeks to defy expectations with EAT SH!T, his new album, out today. Spanning 24 tracks, EAT SH!T is a dazzling display of versatility, gathering beats by some of the underground's best to accompany his soaring melodies and breakneck rhymes. A brilliant new chapter in the artist formerly known as iayze's career, The album takes aim directly at gossipers and onlookers who ignore the 23-year-old's artistry and dismiss how far he has come since he broke into the music industry as a teenager.
Jace! premiered the album during an activation in New York City earlier this week, featuring a mobile port-o-potty, emblazoned with the album's title, and a pop-up at the Asaali store in SoHo. Fans who attended the pop-up received exclusive merch, including branded toilet paper, and received an early listen to EAT SH!T.
From the album's opening song, the self-produced "Love Me To The Moon," it becomes clear that Jace! has higher ambitions for this album, stacking multi-tracked harmonies atop triumphant synths until the song explodes into a fist-pumping dance music breakdown. The 23-year-old artist keeps up this spirit of experimentation throughout the album, twirling taffy-like melodies on the TrapBoyTango-produced "ragebait," shouting out Sosa on bilingual Richie Souf-produced banger "me llamo llama toter," going back and forth with meteoric riser 1300SAINT on "wtf!," and turning out outlandish flexes and making passes at some of the most unattainable women in music on "beyoncé." Home to the ultra-confident recent single "pajama," and featuring production from Jace! himself, with assistance from underground fixtures like stanthekid, Noah Mejia, Hecto, and many others, EAT SH!T is available on all platforms via SLANG.
Along with the album, Jace! will release the music video for album highlight "no ho in my bones," an anthemic album highlight. Produced by his frequent collaborator Hecto, "no ho in my bones" is a showcase for Jace's vocal acrobatics, as he stretches syllables atop arpeggiating pianos and subsonic 808s. The young rapper lays out his mission statement, singing "like Justin Bieber" and expressing his admiration for Bizzy Bone as he assures the audience he will never go away without a fight. In the video, Jace! passionately performs the song in designer sweats, looking directly into the camera and daring any comers to challenge him.
Last week, the Fort Worth native gave back to the community by hosting an event, ahead of Father's Day, in partnership with Salvation Army Austin. Jace hosted dinner for the Salvation Army Austin's community members, hosted a game night for the center's children, and brought support to families in need. A father of three himself, Jace! knows what it means to provide for a family, and through his Salvation Army Austin event, he provided a crucial lifeline for members of his Southeast Texas community.
Since he broke onto the scene as a 17-year-old, Jace! has never stopped working, dropping dozens of singles and tapes without ever sacrificing quality. He built a massive following on SoundCloud (275k followers), drawing fans with idiosyncratic hits like "556 (Green Tips)," which has over 72 million streams on Spotify alone. Overall, across projects like Reverance and Virtuous and additional hits like "GOOSE CREEK" and "20 Min," which reached #14 on Billboard's TikTok chart. Jace! racked up over 700 million streams to date, including 111 millionviews on his YouTube videos. A fixture in the underground scene, Jace! earned a co-sign from Lil Uzi Vert on his song "x2," and was one of the first rappers to appear on PlaqueBoyMax's In The Booth.
Over the past year, Jace! has been more active than ever, impressing with his 2025 album Greenway, named after his home neighborhood in Fort Worth. A musical omnivore, Jace! released his mixtape Flowers Die On Sunday, filled with guitars and inspired by alternative rock, over Easter weekend, racking up over 550k streams in its first week. The young artist still loves to feed his day one fans on SoundCloud, releasing exclusive mixtapes like DEMONS 3 and most recently, on June 3rd, Curation 5, exclusively on the platform.
Opening up a new chapter as he focuses on family, community, and his music, Jace! is ready to prove he's one of the most talented and hardest-working rappers of his generation. Stay tuned for much more.

SABRINA STERLING DROPS 'AN AMERICAN CRIME' EP
Rising singer-songwriter Sabrina Sterling elevates her sound with her new EP, An American Crime, out now via Columbia Records. With amped up instrumentation and production, Sabrina pushes her creative boundaries sonically and collaborated with producers Mike Wise (Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan), Harry Charles (Stella Lefty, Dove Cameron), and Cooper Holzman (Mon Rovia, Medium Build, Sydney Ross Mitchell) to create the world of American crime. An allegory of the 2007 film, Sabrina uses synths, bolstering guitars, brash drums, and visual storytelling to deliver a dark punch, and asks the listener to question who is at fault - the narrator or the “victim”, as shown in songs like the title track and “Saint”. Sabrina Sterling paints a picture of an imperfect family, a lack of justice, and taking matters into her own hands, as shown with songs like “Jukebox” and “Eventually”. The allure of the darkness is what brings listeners into this world and will intrigue fans who have been with her since TikTok or are just now discovering her. A sonic shift away from her Ramona EP, Sabrina explores and processes a new side of her life and puts that perspective in her music. Deconstructing the image of what an all-American family might look like, Sabrina confronts her inner demons in songs like “Devil’s in My Living Room” and unapologetically owns her side of the story. Inspired by horror films like The Conjuring, Sabrina is unafraid of shame and is willing to sing, write, and produce even the most complex experiences with her fans. The 21-year-old San Diego-born, Los Angeles-based alternative pop singer-songwriter, writes songs that speak to heartbreak, trauma, anxiety, and the emotions we carry through every phase of life. Shaped by a turbulent upbringing, including bullying, her parents' divorce, and years of abuse, she turned to music as her outlet. Inspired by Julia Michaels and Phoebe Bridgers, she built a following with millions of streams on early favorites like "Love Me That Way" and "17 Pushing 24," earning praise from Finneas and Olivia Rodrigo. Her Ramona EP spawned "Bittersweet," surpassing 1.2 million Spotify streams, and a tour run with Jessie Murph followed. Now, she speaks up for everyone who's ever felt unheard on An American Crime.
