Boss: Jenny Nguyen
Upon graduating “uni” Jenny Nguyen and her best friend started a magazine called Melting Butter that featured perforated pages with restaurant recommendations. While visiting the venues covered in each issue, readers were encouraged to write their favorite dishes and the address of a person they thought would enjoy them - turning the page into a postcard.
When Jenny and her co-founder departed Australia for adventures in Europe, that iteration of the magazine dissolved. The name was resurrected later for a blog dedicated to Nguyen's culinary exploits. But as access to the Internet and the ability to self publish evolved, so did the cooking blog; expanding into a lifestyle website with more than 30 contributors and 3 editors covering the best the world has to offer in design, arts and eats.
The distinct aesthetic and quality of Melting Butter Dot Com eventually landed Nguyen a slew of consulting roles. The website that started as a passion project had turned into an opportunity to collaborate with and creatively tell stories for clients enamored with Jenny's curation. By sticking true to her desire to chronicle experiences she cared about, found inspiring, visually stimulating, by valuing the editorials more than the ability to monetize the content, by doing what she loved and surrounding herself with a network of likeminded individuals, Jenny Nguyen did carve out a way to turn a profit. But only because valued quality and authenticity more than money.
