The AI briefly stared incredulously at the boy, stunned with the bundles of flowers thrown into her arms. Of course, she immediately became intrigued with the unfamiliar flora. Bluish fingertips slowly stroked one of the petals of a large, bright flower displaying a beautiful hue of yellow. Brushing lightly across the smooth surface put her in a trance, her cerulean eyes following the repetitive motion. Cortana smiled, closing her eyes to fully experience the flower's touch.

The AI paused, mentally reviewing her years of service for such a person. Having known battle ever since her creation, Cortana had difficulty understanding the concept of a best friend. She held respect for her superiors, the brave faces who took up arms to defend humanity, and the woman who created her. However....

"I guess Chief could be considered one?" she responded thoughtfully, "We've been through so much, that I've come to respect and care for him. After all, I chose him."

Per the second inquiry, the woman shuffled awkwardly. Many faces of past enemies flashed through her mind, but one in particular stood out. Her eyes were obscured by a hidden sadness, her lips curled into a melancholic smile.

"I guess my worst enemy is myself. Thanks to the rampancy..."
