❛ it was too much to ask of you. ❜
Cabra sat on the hospital bed having the burns on his arm and face dressed when suddenly the curtain to his bed to pushed back in one powerful movement. He was greeted with the soot smudged face of a very pretty blonde stood in MPFD gear, she was panting a little from trying frantically trying to find him no doubt. Cab knew why, he had left the scene without a word.
{Earlier that night}
He had been coming home from working security at the hospital, so he had his security gear on, he didn’t blame the woman for thinking he worked at the small night club whose kitchen had caught fire. The fire crew was busy scrambling to get it all under control and the civilians out, and it is the job of premises security to do head counts and know all exits to buildings, they were the first line of defense and contact in these situations.
So when she had spotted him, she stopped him and asked him to go back down the side alley of the building to make sure the fire door was not obstructed. She had also yelled at him to not go inside just to check the door and report back, before she had moved away to help her crew.
Cabra, being the man he was didn’t want people to get hurt so he checked the door, it wasn’t blocked but it also wasn’t opening and the way it kept jostling it looked like maybe someone was trying to open it from the other side. So the mountain god did what he was told not to do... Cabra took hold of the metal bar on the outside of the door, it had felt cool to the touch, so without thinking he ripped the door off its hinges and tossed it.
Cabra was met with a wall of flames and hot air. He turned his face away and held up an arm to shield himself from the heat as he was blown back. He hit the wall of the opposing building and slumped to the ground. He wasn’t down long as he quickly stood and moved away from the flames.
He stumbled back out of the ally and grabbed the first firefighter he could and told him that the fire door on the side of the building was open and there were flames erupting from it. He hid his arm and turned the side of his face away as he did, adrenaline was hiding the pain for the time being but he didn't have long before it would get overwhelming. He then left the site, debated on whether it was worth risking going to the hospital, heaven and hell help him should Camazotz find out, but pain trumps fear so he made his way back to the ER. The doctor on call that night smiled for a second when she saw him, but it fell quickly as she realized he was hurt.
{Presently}
The firefighter had waited for his wounds to be dressed before she took a seat and Cab spoke first, “Don’t...” he started first, “Feel bad about this, you weren't to know I wasn’t working there, I didn’t correct you and you told me not to go in...” he said quickly, her reply that it was too much to ask off him made him smile, “Of a stranger perhaps... but maybe not of a friend?” he offered and extended his uninjured hand for the other to shake, “My name is Cabrakan, Mayan god giant of the mountains.” he rumbled with a smile, letting the other know he was indeed a god just so she knew his injuries were not something to worry about.
However, the idea of a certain Bat god finding out that he was hurt, due to his own stupidity, not that did indeed worry Cabra, it worried him to his very core. “Lets move this chat outside perhaps?” he offered quickly and moved to slip off the bed.
