one of the definite upsides of being the chief of police is that he gets updated on the new inhabitants of the island regularly, so that he can keep up with who might be possible suspects if some magical incident happens, and also so that he can make sure to keep his officers informed of what sort of defences they should make sure to carry around.
but a completely different upside it brings him is that he knows when his old friends return, and which business they end up working at - or owning in this case. so he puts on his most chief of police-like outfit, even puts on the belt with the badge and the gun and everything and then sets for the lion’s den. he’s been at the bookstore a few times in the past, because he does quite like books, but not frequently enough that he knows it inside and out.
still, finding sol isn’t very hard, considering how brightly she has always shined in his opinion, and so when he steps inside and spots her almost straight away, he instantly puts his hands on his hips and he puts on his most stern tone of voice.
“excuse me, ma’am,” he says all seriously. “i’ve gotten several disturbance calls about this location.” he manages the straight face for a moment longer before he starts grinning as their eyes meet. “apparently your beauty is keeping people from going about their days normally,” he jokes lightly then, before already opening his arms to invite his friend into a hug.
