Is it bad that i just wanted Ben to win against Edward anyway, because Ben was obviously the better pirate in basically every sense....(the only issue being then that Haytham wouldn’t have been born, which is definitely quite an issue cos he’s my fave. And obviously then AC3 wouldn’t exist.) but anyway you get my point Ben was a big deal
No way. You won’t hear me ever judging you for keeping Ben around longer!
Same goes for Mary, I think they deserved more and I wanted them to survive
In the book there’s more of a fight and Edward can’t just one-hit kill Benjamin, instead, they fight on the beach (there’s fanart on Deviantart/Artstaion that resembles that scene) after Ben is already injured by the Jackdaw firing on him and his crew on Santanillas
They swordfight and the author states Ben’s older and injured, so he loses after a number of wounds, but the novel still establishes Ben isn’t at all a pushover, can anticipate Edward’s attacks, and a pretty great fighter. I’ll give the book that
Yeah we gotta have Haytham and his fam. I wouldn’t want to rob the series of Edward’s descendants.
I don’t know, they could have written him out badly injured but inevitably spared by Kenway, who then lies to everyone else he’s dead. I guess it would be OOC or w/e since he was so ANGRYYYY at Ben. Then all of his mentors are dead, land lots of manpain to follow.
Or maybe Ben could have had the upper hand, injured Kenway, but chickened out of killing him and lies to Templars, buying Kenway extra time. The other Templars find out, and Ben’s p. much f--k’d. That ties in with another possible historical end for Ben I’ve read about that was him captured by Spanish and dying in a Havana prison. Historically, Torres hated Hornigold and made complaints about his piracy to English colonial authorities. BenThatch would raid Cuban coasts and such.
(The game really wants the player to hate Ben since he ‘sold em down the river’ yet in truth he tried convincing Nassau pirates to take the pardon to save their skins in the first place)
But I can’t deny Old Man Ben showing up later in Rogue would have been funny.
