There's goodwill spreading through this town like wildfire. The neighbors have been whispering of a stranger in the night who brings good luck, like something out of a fairy tale.

She laughed about it.

But one night at eleven when the streelamps cast geometric shadows onto the freshly-paved roads, a knock on the door woke her from her slumber.

Nobody was there. But on the doorstep there sat a bottle of red wine and a bouquet of white roses, and a note reading: 

"Fare you well."
