Memoirs of a Geshia
Couple hours ago my mind triggered me to think of when a friend of mine told me a story of when she was in middle school and she dressed up as a geshia to school as a Halloween costume without knowing what a geshia is. Later that day she figured out what a geshia really was and was pretty upset.
That story lead me to hunting down more information about what a geshia really is, which took me to a preview of the film "Memoirs of a Geshia." While watching the preview of the film I got really hooked onto the movie and was looking for a way to watch the movie for free. Since the film has been or for a decade now it was harder to look for it. I didn't have luck looking for a free site until Pub Film saved my life and I was able to watch the film. And just about 20-30 min ties ago I finished the film.
My opinion the film is that it showed that love can still go wrong even when people try to make it right. Other than the love part of the film it also showed what a true geshia is and I wouldn't call them prostitute even though majority of the things they do is categorized under the word prostitute. From my personal perspective I don't really view them as prostitutes, because as chiyo said "She paints her face, to hide her face." The way I interpreted is that they don't want to do it, but it's because they have no choice. That is why they try their best not to fall in love, because in the end they can't have what they desire. Being a geshia isn't a choice.
