The Equalizer, 2
The Equalizer 2 is a movie about a colored man named Cam (Denzel Washington). He is some sort of ex-special ops or otherwise a former highly-trained soldier. The fact that he is colored does actually have a significance, as his character is quite noble and polite but attempts to be a role model for a colored teen who clearly has an artistic talent but who is caught up by a local gang. Over the course of the movie, Cam manages to literally and figuratively save the kid (I didn’t pay attention to his name) and manages to change the direction of the kid’s life.
The main story of this movie is of former coworkers in a spy agency being killed off by some group of trained soldiers. These deaths become personal when one of Cam’s friends is murdered. He begins to investigate his friend’s death (Rachel?) and uncovers a rogue group of soldiers who have betrayed him and Rachel. The ensuing movie is a man-hunt of the soldiers trying to hunt down him, and Cam trying to lure them into a deadly trap.
The movie turned out to be quite good. One theme of the movie was about being observant to the emotions of those around you and to try to be a good role model. Another theme was about finding your potential, and not making excuses for yourself. The movie also had a deeply personal yet optimistic theme of make amends for your demons or die by them. As a movie that was largely about choices and people, I would give this movie a solid 7 on a 10-scale rating.
