“Earth sucks, but it’s bearable with you by my side.” he sighs. you’re sitting under the stars, sharing a Ramune as he tells you this. it’s only been a week since Josuke found out who his missing father is, three days since his grandfather died. everything is so confusing, and you’ve seen first hand as Josuke watched his world fall apart. but he doesn’t sound sad here. whimsical, maybe, but not unhappy.

“I wanna fly away from here someday.” he points to a faintly red light in the sky, a blip that you can only assume is Mars. “get away from everything, yanno? but I don’t wanna do it by myself. come with me, [Name]. it’ll be better with you.”

I think, like you said, that in part 3 he's a troubled teenager who hardly ever sees his dad and is rightfully so mad about it. Not just mad at his dad, but subsequently mad at the world. I think he doesn't have good social skills because he never really bothered to make friends—which only adds to his reputation as a delinquent—since he thought that like his dad, they'll leave anyway. He prefers to be alone, at least when he's alone, no one can abandon him. That's why he is so distant and rude to his mother. The way he sees it, she might leave at any moment too. But he does love her. And some part of him wishes things were like they were when he was younger and close to his mom.

He doesn't know how to deal with that anger that he has. So he lets it out by getting into fights. At this point, everyone sees him as some criminal bad boy, so he simply plays the part. Like I said, no one can leave him behind if no one is around. It's for the better in his eyes. The first true friends he allows himself to have are the crusaders.
