live to serve // ‘i thought i’d never see you again’ hug
Although their relationship was servant and master, Kamui always treated Flora like family. That alone brought joy to the maid’s heart, despite her claims of being disloyal to the princess. Kamui was a kind soul, and that alone drew Flora to her, even at a young age. While many maids saw their master as a mere employer, Flora gradually began to see the royal as what she saw her: family. However, though it kept bonds between one another strong, such a close tie always served as damage upon the battlefield. Whilst assisting on treating the wounded, Flora felt her heart stop as urgent calls for her liege filled the medical tent. Her gaze swept over the beds quickly, a cold sweat running over her body. She hadn’t heard Kamui’s voice since announcing formation earlier that afternoon, and the sheer possibility of her being lost in action caused Flora’s stomach to drop.
With furrowed brows, she quickly excused herself, uttering a ‘I’ll return as soon as I am able!’ and hurried outside of the tent, staff in hand, ready to rush off in search of the princess. Before she can however, relieved calls of Kamui’s name fills the air, the maid’s gaze tearing away from the horizon to blink owlishly at the approaching noble, relief and gratefulness washing over her at the sight of her bright smile. Although she was dirtied and had a slight limp, the princess seemed fine, yet it didn’t stop the maid from hurrying over, her arms quick to wrap around the girl’s body.
❝ L-Lady Kamui! Oh, thank goodness! ❞ The embrace was tight, as though Flora had been on the verge of losing Felicia ( though, with the amount of love the woman held for Kamui, perhaps the very thought of losing her was just as terrifying ). She buries her face in the princess’ shoulder, a breathless laugh slipping past her trembling lips, her hold tightening still.
“Please, milady! Don’t frighten me like that!”
