What did Kid actually said to his crew that made them act a complete turn of 180• tho?

For his crew, it was a bit more of a show don’t tell with what they witnessed. When Kid is acting different or going on another tirade, they usually differ to Killer’s judgment. In this case, Kid said first:

“That woman’s going to join our crew.”

- They thought this was some weird euphemism at first that Kid was going to kill or completely thrash her, but when they all watched their captain keep staring at Hoku (glaring), in a way sort of following her around, yelling and arguing but still doing what she said on the island, they put two and two together.

- Killer was the voice of reason and said they should all try to be welcoming, Hoku would probably make a great addition.

- “I think Kid likes her quite a bit,” Killer said. “We’ll make her feel welcome.”

The entire crew watched as Kid threatened to use his devil fruit to send Hoku flying. She ignored him, drawing on another wall. Kid stepped closer, speaking even louder.

One piece manga spoiler ahead

I read your fic, memos a few days ago and wonder if pokian were based on existing race? I'm sorry If It comes out rude, I'm just a bit confused after reading the manga today. I thought King was Hoku's long lost cousin. You don't need to answer this ask if you don't feel comfortable tho, I tend to not read notes so it should be my fault if you have ever explained it

omggg okay i know i figured i was going to get more of these questions since the reveal of King's face and anon, let me tell you

IM JUST AS SURPRISED LOLOL CAN YOU BELIEVE MY FACE WHEN THEY SHOWED KING AND HE LITERALLY LOOKED LIKE A POKIAN IM-

Pokians when I created them were not based on an existing race in One Piece, they were an island and group I created to add to the OP world. They do have some relation to certain things, but we're not sure of that just yet. The island of Artopoki has its own history I intend to dwell deeper into as the story progresses, maybe history even longer than Hoku's ever realized ;)

But basically no, King looking like Hoku's long lost cousin/a Pokian is totally unintentional and a complete coincidence LOL. I'm kinda wildin' out about the whole thing, but now I'm looking forward to seeing how I can tie these new developments together without it changing to much and I think I have an idea ;)

I'm not sure if all Lunarians look like King, but at least the wings make a good distinction HAHAHAH.

So what are Artopoki's stance on adopted kids, like are they allowed to have coming of age marks as well, despite not having magic blood or hair? Or are they more strict in only those who have Pokian lineage can have those marks?

Artopoki allowed for adopted children on the rare chances it happened. Children not of Pokian descent adopted by Pokians were granted marks by their parents, it was actually rather customary of some Pokians to give non-Pokians marks out of deep friendship, admiration, love or other reasons. Pokians who fell in love with non-Pokians would even sometimes inscribe their marks onto their lovers (with their consent) on some part of their body as a sort of promise/binding.

Different Pokians sometimes had different stances on this, the more conservative would feel it was disgraceful or tasteless. Others with more open-minded views saw no issue with it as long as the marks were treated with respect. Artopoki, culture loving and open-minded as it was, has its own history of varying beliefs and laws instilled in the island. The last group of elders overseeing the islands governing before Artopoki fell was an even split between more conservative and less.

The people of Artopoki tended to stay within the island with the exception of leaving on excursions, travel, work, etc. However some Pokians longed for more and would settle off island or found themselves places and small communities they liked more, it was also customary for many Pokians to make a sort of pilgrimage away from the island to see the rest of the world and it was up to them whether or not to come back. Manu and Mahina were prime examples of Pokians who had a calling, but honed their life’s work off the island before finding their way back to their goddess call.
