amma starter call, accepting! ˎˊ˗ @memuntos ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
amma’s sweet tooth is ferocious, and never once denied from its constant yearning for indulgence. sugar and the blue have been pour down amma’s throat since she still had her milk teeth- keeping her little, keeping her sweet, keeping her sick. she’s grown into it, more, drowning ham in honey so much that it’s swimming in it, rollerblading around town with a cherry blow pop secured between glossy lips. the same color as her rosebud knees, staining her mouth and tongue. sometimes, late at night, amma sticks it out, watching herself in the mirror. in the bakery’s window, amma does the same, licking off the cherry flavored lipgloss as she watches her tongue appear, then vanish, running over her lips.
there’s a woman inside the bakery, at the counter. she’s … pretty, actually. age wise, anyone that falls between amma and her teenage partners or crimes- or befallen victims -and her mother falls squarely within camille territory, for amma. anyways, she’s nothing like the old bitch that amma imagined would be here, harder to wheedle a treat out from behind the counter, without paying for it. amma frowns, looking down at her skates. if she had brought kelsey or jodes, she would’ve demanded that they hand over their shoes. but amma had come alone, so she shrugs, and pushes open the bakery door anyway, letting the jingling bell sing out her arrival.
“ hiya, ” amma smiles, the kind that’s halfway for grown-ups and halfway promises the mischief that follows her like a shadow. “ you’re not gonna’ kill me for wearing these inside, are ya’? ” gesturing to the skates. look at me, look at me! “ i’m fixin’ for sweets. i always am, mama says. ” she wonders if pretty bakery lady knows her mama, everybody does. it’s her precious, golden ticket, and can get her almost anywhere that amma can’t make out herself.

no, cj shouldn’t have broken into the lab- but who the fuck cares about that? clearly not her, as the pirate is sprawled across the counter, picking through little tubes that make tip-tap sounds at the touch of her nails against the glass. it doesn’t take hardly any time at all for cj to start to wonder what the glass might sound shattering violently and suddenly against the cold, hard floor. but that’ll only hurt her case, and while it takes barely any convincing to loop aklla into chaos, she’s a huge cunt when it comes to helping anything cj related. it’s cute, she hasn’t groveled like this since she was fifteen. nostalgic, or something else boring as fuck.
when aklla arrives, cj’s laying across her laboratory counters, kicking her feet and twirling her hair as her gaze blankets some book she can’t understand. all she knows is that it’s aklla’s handwriting. when cj’s stare moves to look at her, it drags. “ hey, little miss meanie … ” cj drops the book, it thuds on the counter as she swings to sit up. “ got something fun to do with you. ” she hops off the counter. “ we’re talkin’ schemin', are you in? ”

people stop in the middle of the street to tell them how beautiful their garden is. not just the student body- anyone who breezes past μάγ’s sorority house is halted and enchanted by the landscape that surrounds the building. it is beautiful, but venus wonders what they’d think if they knew what was growing in their garden, and why it’s growing. jen says that nobody cares about the inside so long as it’s pretty to look at, and venus listens to that well enough to pretend to understand. still, she could never be satisfied with only looking. it’s why, most days, parts of her are buried in the dirt, fishing around for flora and fauna alike to subject to her whims.
today, though, she’s not dirty at all, waiting for dahlia in the garden. venus is in her cleanest pink sweater and a skirt that one of her sisters had ironed for her. she doesn’t really care about clothes, but dahlia always looks … polished. like one of the dolls in venus’ shared room. today, venus mirrors her. she’s not sure if she’s trying to hide, or fit in. dahlia asked to speak to her alone, and while she isn’t known for her obedience, venus does as she’s asked. clean, sipping tea- another pretty thing in the garden to be gawked at. though, venus has more teeth than their flowers do.
when dahlia’s sitting across from her, nothing else seems to matter quite as much. “ am i in trouble? ” venus asks, bluntly, with curious, dark eyes that swallow up the rest of her face.

every once in a while, she catches the cool bite of autumn in a breath of wind. a thorn will leave its violent kiss on her skin, will slice a drip of you know better. the deep purple and black flowers that allie keeps in her garden for someone special will gleam just so in the moonlight. the fairy girl notices someone at a party with a wide, dark, magnetic gaze, and allie thinks of aklla. it hurts, but never without a dash of curiosity. it hurts, but allie loves her, still. she still wants her, she still misses her in an ache that squeezes around her ribcage and pulls. she never stood a chance, and, in her heart, allie still believes aklla doesn’t deserve to be alone. after all, nobody does.
it must be two things together, desire, and pain. she can’t help either, and one never stops the other. aklla calls it splicing, when they do it with plants. allie never used to be able to cut so delicately, but now she can. she’s gotten better, more careful under aklla’s eyes. but maybe it’s not like that, because whatever makes aklla hurt so much to think about, to hold in her heart, is the same thing that brings allie back to her, every time.
“ hel-looo? ” allie calls down the stairs to aklla’s lab- laboratory, is what she’s supposed to call it, but that’s so many letters and they all get stuck and jumbled in her mouth, she never sounds as smart as she wishes she was. not like aklla. -, the echo dancing like the prettiest ballerina and, still … not a sound in return. allie reaches the bottom of the stairs without falling, this time, calling out for aklla melodically. she swings around the corner, big blue eyes lighting up as she sees aklla’s dark hair, her back, her focus, her posture. affection rushes through her and allie can’t help but go to her. she lands with her arms around aklla’s shoulders from behind, squeezing with a soft sound of happiness. “ oh, you’re here! ” it’s almost easier like this, where allie can pretend that the cold bite of her brown eyes aren’t there at all.
💌 @memuntos — johanna : what a miserable evening.
the addams family sentence prompts — i.
" now that is something we can agree on, johanna. " champagne flute goes up for the briefest moment, if only to punctuate her disapproval, before inevitably floating back to the shape of her pouting lips. " they have truly lost touch this year, haven't they? i suppose last year's event was quite the feat to replicate, but i thought this level a failure was impossible to reach. " a sigh. effie's seen virtually everything a capitol party has to offer in her years; it was no secret the ones held in honor of newcomer victors weren't the most interesting, or eventful of them — specially for the likes of victors & escorts like johanna or herself, who've seen it over & over a thousand times — but at least a good amount of fine music, fashion & drinks should make up for it decently. this one screams disaster on all fronts. effie turns to the girl as she swallows, smirk tugging at the flushed tone of her cheek. she couldn't help snooping around if she wanted. " darling, what exactly does your escort do to convince you to come to these, again? i know my victor can be bought with the promise of limitless alcohol. i would think you're a bit tougher a cookie to crack. "
@memuntos sent . . . from johanna: you don't bounce back from that right away. / [ ACCEPTING. ]
❝ are you saying that there is an eventual bounce back ? ❞ genuine curiosity colors annie's otherwise flat tone. the little focus she has right now is being dedicated to the dishes sitting in her sink, but she spares johanna a brief glance. then, it's right back to the partially soaped up plate in her hand. how long has she been scrubbing at this one ? she wouldn't be able to tell you if you asked. what a long morning its been. ❝ that's optimistic. especially coming from you, johanna. ❞
there's a small part of her that wants to agree with what johanna's statement implies. outside, the sun shines, which they can see quite clearly through the kitchen window. jonah went down easy for his nap too, which is nothing to scoff at. these little things make her . . . less numb to the world. not yet content, but somewhat more alive.
annie brushes a strand of hair that's managed to break free from the messy braid spilling down her back behind her ear. domesticity still feels unnatural despite the years she spent doing chores as a child. her body, grown now, is still waiting for another shoe to drop. she fears it always will be.
❝ i've been having trouble sleeping. more than before. ❞ she says plainly. maybe it will stimulate further conversation from johanna, maybe not. either way, it's the truth. ❝ i know the baby is part of it, but it's more than that. i lose time. i'll watch the sun rise over the water without even realizing it went down, ❞
