Tim went undercover as Todd Richards, a psychology intern at Arkham Asylum. It wasn’t hard to get in, he had to fake a few documents, considering that he hasn’t even made it past high school. He was still pretty young, and looked his age, so he had to seem very smart so his past school records were impressive. Started college sophomore year, and was almost finished with high school and was a senior college student for a bachelors in psychology.

He was at Arkham because he had picked up on some sort of robberies that were going on across town at the exact same time that a bigger event that would keep the vigilantes busy was going on. He got a tip that whoever was pulling these off worked in Arkham. How else would they know when Batman was going to be busy with another criminal.

Dressed in a suit that wasn’t too expensive but wasn’t the cheapest, to help show off that he was a college student but he was serious about this internship, he went through security and was finally in Arkham. He was told to go to his supervisor, who was a Doctor Kiebeth. He had done some research on her, she was impressive one of the youngest members of the staff, she made it in through an internship. Other than that, there wasn’t a lot of information he could find about her, which put her on the list as a suspect.

He went to the offices and was lead back to hers. Time to put on the charm. “Hi. Todd Richards, I was told that you were my supervisor throughout my internship here.” he said, holding out a hand toward her

The smile she wears is not triumphant. It’s not smug or exuberant, it’s not even happy. The twist of her lips is rather an expression of rueful victory, a victory that gives her no pleasure.

“You did. In the things you don’t say. In body-language and minor shifts. In where your attention peaks, and where it wanes.”

Technically, she wasn’t lying. It was nonverbal cues she was picking up on– but it was so much more than his physical person. A mind like his was vibrant and loud. The more he held himself back, the more he clenched at all of his tells, the greater of a display showed within the spectrum she could see; like grand ejections of solar flares.

“You want the cycle to stop, Edward. You just don’t think it’s possible.”

Edward's eyebrows furrowed, quickly trying to assess what had given something that significant away to her. Was he really that much of an open book? He knew the compulsive need to be honest with himself had forced him to create little cheats in his dialogue with others, but he must have been so focused on their conversations that he lost track of every other little twitch. As he carefully folded his hands tighter in his lap, he couldn't deny her assessment. He wasn't an idiot, he knew he had a pattern that was damning him to revisit Arkham again and again. The only things that might have changed was the quickness of getting back and the intensity of the beatings.

 There had been one day, not too long ago, as he had been occupying himself in his cell late at night with a piece of chalk. He'd been listing off as many facets of pi, careful to keep a lookout of any curious guards that might have passed. Normally the activity would have soothed him, given him solace in the near endless sequence of numbers, but for once it...

It didn't.

 He had stopped short, not even brushing close to the 130th or even thinking about the 160th number. He had stopped on the 50th, staring it down and pulled himself away to wipe it all off the walls. Even unconsciously he found far more comfort in something he could do endlessly if he wanted but that night he was already sick of it.

Yet the next night he switched to prime numbers instead, and he nearly snapped the smuggled chalk in half when he once again was scrawling numbers on the walls. A different pattern, sure, but still a pattern of predictable digits that followed a set of rules.

His own lips turned downward, a surly expression now hanging on his face, "And you have the theory it's possible for me to get out of the habit of eating my own tail? Well, you certainly have my interest, among other things."

Jonathan is very inquisitive by nature, but unlike Edward he isn’t as willing to show his curiosity outright, because what he focuses on are people. He loves to people watch, and wonders what stranger’s lives are like, who they are, what they might do in different situations, what they’re feeling, what they fear, what they love- Ah, you get the gist. How he does express this interest is through a lot more focus that reflects through his whole tense body. A major tell is always his hands, which twitch as if wanting to bury themselves in the mind of another or toy with them, almost like a puppet master.

The first things to turn pink were his ears. It always seemed like they had their own little lives, and the compliment embarrassed them more than him. It didn’t help they were so big that it was a tell-tale sign pride wasn’t just the only emotion going through his mind.

“Ah, well I always aim to surprise, Kiebeth.”

"Are you having doubts?"

“About my recovery, my patience, or something else entirely? Mmm, I’ll choose answer D: All of the above.”

It had been a particularly rough couple of weeks as of late, noting his reluctance or even out right hostility with the thought of engaging with anyone after his last outburst. Now that people had been catching on to him staying behind in Arkham, rumors were starting to make their rounds from inmate to inmate. Normally, rumors were just that and there was absolutely no basis in reality, but a particular one had nearly set him off during lunch just today.

“You got a thing for that doctor of yours, riddle boy?”

The deep base tone in the inmate’s voice was grating enough. It was like pressing your ear to a subwoofer, he thought, but you only wished it caused you hearing damage so you wouldn’t have to keep hearing it. Yet he still did.

“Heard she’s the only thing keeping you back in this shit-hole. Who'da thought the little runt would turn from wanting to get pummelled by the bat to sharing his feelings. You gonna make us some friendship bracelets you f-”

Like the countless other times, it seemed like wasting his food and attention on the more particularly hot headed inmates was a trend with Edward.

He rubbed at the slowly forming bruise on his nose, and pushed back a sorrowful thought of wasting perfectly good yogurt on that brute.

“But I suppose with anything, doubt is going to croup up at some point or another.”

The party had been raging on for some time, as it was typical on a standard Friday night. At least Jay himself didn’t have to worry about getting up early in the morning. He could easily sleep off the hangover. Having been floating around from conversation to conversation, he felt comfortable with most of the people that had attended, but there was a woman that kept cropping up in the corner of his eye ever now and again. Grabbing two champagne flutes, he meandered over.

“Excuse me, miss, I don’t believe I’ve caught your name.”
