Transformers rescue bots is one of my favourite childhood cartoons and because I’ve recently got my little sister into it we’ve been watching it together. So obviously getting to watch the show with a more perspective-ed brain and getting to really understand the characters more leads to situations like s3 ep3 Too Many Kade’s.
I’m mad about some of the characterization so I’m just ranting about it below the cut, feel free to ignore!
I cannot get over the scene where he just walks away from the car stuck under rocks because he is literally a trained firefighter with examples in previous episodes of him putting saving lives first and I’d argue it’s an established character trait. WHY DID HE WALK AWAY. I could be wrong which is fine (I’d at least like evidence tho) but he is a TRAINED. FIREFIGHTER. It has been ESTABLISHED that he does not just walk away leaving people in danger. Ok sure his sister was there, yes two of the bots were there, but I don’t believe he’d bitch about how slow they’re going then just. Walk Away. WHEN HE COMES BACK ON SCREEN IT WASN’T EVEN COMING BACK FROM THE BRIDGE. WHAT WAS HE DOING??
Even if he had said “sure I could deal with that boulder easy” realized he couldn’t, had Heatwave deal with it, but STILL GOT THE WOMAN OUT OF THE CAR. I’d believe it easier because that’s just. How They Do Rescues.
To me Kade’s entire character if you boiled it down enough could be explained in three simple bullet points
1. He’s a firefighter who saves lives
2. He’s an obnoxious asshole with an ego
3. He’s there for his family when it counts
Ok wow I had more gripes than I thought and me being tired probably didn’t make it make sense, honestly reblog or comment if you wanna add to or disprove anything I said because I’m super open to hearing everything anyone has to say about characters because it’s so much fun to hear someone’s thoughts and opinions and the whys behind it.
Generally though outside of That One Scene I think the rest of the episode is fine and the power of friendship and teamwork prevails and Kade learns his lesson until next time they need him to act like the token asshole of the series
