Edogawa Ranpo x Reader

It was nearing dark, when something (or someone)  unexpected showed up at your doorstep.

You were just about to head out, a certain destination in mind. You took your coat off the rack and grabbed the plastic bag on the counter and was about to turn the knob when someone knocked on your door.

You opened the door and a closed-eyed smile greeted your surprised face.

“Ranpo-san? W-What are you doing here?,” You asked.

“To see you of course! Aren’t you glad I came over?”

You felt a blush crept it’s way to your cheeks, he was quite spot on. How can he say that so easily with that cute smile of his?

“H-How did you get here?”

“Atsushi accompanied me.”

You let out a giggle at his response. Even with his high intellect, the man couldn’t travel alone even if it cost him his life.

The black haired man in front of you sported a blush on his own face when he heard your soft giggle, but it went unnoticed by you.

“Can I come in?”

“Oh right!”

You stepped to the side to let Ranpo through. He let out nod towards you, then let himself feel at home on your coach. He gestured to you to sit beside him, and you took off your coat and did so.

“So why did you really come here Ranpo-san?”

Ranpo’s eyes lit up for a second, then reached inside his coat. After a few seconds of waiting, he finally pulled out a package covered with brown paper. He gave it to you with a soft smile on his face.

“I was on the way to your place and saw this book in the store  and it instantly reminded me of you. So I bought it, now here I am.”

You couldn’t stop the smile that fought its way to your flushed face. Your heart was beating too loudly that you could hear it pounding in your ears.

“I- thank you so much Ranpo-san. I’m surprised you know about this book.”

The said man scratched the back of his, and let out a small chuckle.

“ I might have heard you gush about it to Atsushi before and thought about buying it for you. I never got the chance until now, due to you know, my inability to travel alone.”

You two laughed at his response. And then you remembered.

“I have something for you too!,” You said as you grabbed a plastic bag from your dining table and held it towards the green eyed man.

Ranpo took  the box out of the plastic bag and immediately, a sweet scent wafted in the room.

He opened the box and a sight of delicious looking macarons of different flavors. He lifted his gaze towards you, his orbs shining in glee.

“I was actually about to go to your place and give you this! I made extras and immediately thought of giving some to you, knowing your sweet tooth.”

Ranpo’s eyes softened at your thought. He took the lid off, took a chocolate flavoured one then devoured it in one bite. You could see sparkles around him as he chewed.

“Thish ishso gud,” he swallowed, “here try some!”

He then proceeded to shove a vanilla flavored macaron in your mouth, abrupting whatever it was you were gonna say. He let out a laugh at your confused face and you followed after. The night was spent with laughter and warmth, and maybe something else.

Unexpected things happened, but, you wouldn’t have it any other way.
