For your to many legs AU, how has the appearance of 8 changed it? Also why is his nickname Virus?
Eight is a bitter man, trapped and puppeteered for the entertainment of an audience not yet fully within his comprehension (may that last bit stay forever true, for the continued wellbeing of his world's Legundo the Creator). He may not hurt other people, not directly, but he sure doesn't make himself likable. From surrounding North & Champion's house with soul torches, to tripping Pyro off the stepping stones and into the water...
The only ones to get any slack are Shelby "kindest heart in town" Shubble, and "toyed with by gods of chaos" Traveller. Even then, many a time Shubble and Scott found garlic planted by their door (Avid denied involvement when asked, tho he commended whoever did that), and Traveller often feels a tangible gaze from above on him.
As for the nickname...

*Sticks their tongue out* Killjoy! Well, it was inspired by an art of him I saw. The in-universe explanation is that it's kinda his species – he is a failed reality virus, created to leech energy and info or whatnot out of the universe of SBK. But, because of a mistake in his code, he doesn't do that, so his Creator uses him as an avatar to interact with SBK through, much to entertainment of the Audience.
This is also why he likes pink sheep, for all that his favourite animals are chickens – they are like him, tormented by life because of a mistake in their "code". He was just unlucky to be sentient.
