i worry that if we convince tumblr that wicked is about fascism, we will end up going the steven universe route of "this property is problematic because at the end they forgive the fascists." elphaba forgives glinda and concedes that glinda (who is still upholding the status quo, just with less oppression, we hope) can do what elphaba never could as an outcast. i guess you could argue that glinda calls it a regime change, so it'll be different, but we don't really see that, and in the end she still has power and influence, and in the end she still doesn't clear elphaba's name.
anyway, wicked is problematic for plenty of other things. i'm praying they make nessa's storyline better for the movies, but i'm also not holding out much hope that the movies will be any good or in any way critical of the system
