Fantastic Art Critique of Hazbin’s Character Designs:
Recently watched this VERY good and very educational vid on Hazbin’s character designs, and character design in general. I think most people in the critical space have probably seen it by now, but I wanted to shout it out because of the quality of the video.
Honestly, Meppity’s critique is a breath of fresh air. She understands fully what she’s talking about as an animation industry and character design professional, and is polite and, most importantly, specific in her critiques. She doesn’t talk down to people who liked the show or the characters and acknowledges that, while she may disagree about the character designs strength, she recognizes that there is something about Hazbin that a lot of people love and cherish, and is respectful of that.
I also love that she is very self reflective of her previous redesigns and take the time to criticize her OWN art as well. It shows she has the introspection artists need to succeed and improve, and I love that she created a lot of engaging redesigns while keeping close to the art style of the show.
Very good watch all around, highly recommended watch. Hoping she does the Helluva Boss characters as well.
