'relationships are hard work' is more about like figuring out the logistics of merging two lives in a way that we both feel seen and given equal space in. it's about the difficulty of allowing yourself to become fully vulnerable in front of another person. or how hard it is to wait to be able to spend quality time with one another bc life has just gotten so busy.

it's not "we argue about the same thing every week and this topic is a clear drain on our relationship & hindering us both from being actually happy" or like "we clearly aren't compatible but are in too deep so we have to keep forcing it bc otherwise it will all have been a waste of time"

it is comical seeing white women complaining about men not moving for them on the sidewalk bc every time i pass by a white woman and don't move, they bump into me. like white women themselves are not cognizant of how they treat people of color. the entitlement call is coming from inside the house

people are never the neat little image you carry of them in your head. they will let you down sometimes bc they are human the way you are. they have thoughts theyll never utter the way you do. they have felt shame the way you have. guilt. rage. greed. lust. no matter the rose colored glasses you look at them through, the light they may bring into your life, the way their presence dazzles and warms you. they are still a person with their own volition who will on occasion, do something you perceive as inconceivably out of character. but that’s the point, they aren’t a character. and nor are you. and these are things you must remember. and you’ll have to remember to allow them a place on the ground beside you rather than the golden pedestal you kept them on. and you will feel the grief of recognizing your innate humanity. when you finally recognize your fallibility do not forget to acknowledge it in others. and though it may be painful you must learn to forgive them for it the way you must learn to forgive yourself, too.

tiktok is crazy bc every day people sit down and record themselves admitting that they don't think for themselves. for example I keep seeing south asian people trying to acknowledge the problems with the "clean girl" aesthetic while admitting that it's the thing that made them get out their gold hoops or hair oil bc they now see it socially acceptable to use those things. like I am begging yall to learn + acknowledge your own likes and dislikes and develop a real personality so that you can be free of the chains of chasing trends
