Pallbearer recently did some shows to commemorate the anniversary of the band. I was asked to make artwork that would be used as silkscreened wrap for the Sorrow and Extinction record. I was a little hesitant at first but the powers that be behind Pallbearer really encouraged me to give it a shot. My hesitation grew from being able to nail something cool for Pallbearer. I really like the band and even heard early demos of the record when it was being made. So it was important for me to not only make something cool but have a good experience making the art. I really like that record. I didn’t want to leave the experience kicking stones. All of that navel gazing and worry was wasted as Pallbearer and their management did everything possible for me to stick the landing. A tight deadline was looming but channels of communication were open and any logistics were taken care of for me. All I had to do was rest on experience and execute. A perfect situation brought about by a group effort. Nice right? Totally. As you can tell with all the fawning it was a incredibly pleasant experience. Some t-shirt graphics were also made from artwork since it went so well.
Here is the artwork for the wrap and the original drawings. I received a few messages to post these earlier but I wanted to gather my thoughts on them before posting. Thanks to Pallbearer and their management for the opportunity and experience. I left being a bigger fan of band. Rare air indeed.
