Primary Colors Basic Serie.
Back at Primary Colors Basic Serie completed in 2006.
Several interpretations :
a BAUHAUS interpretation (structure, color, module) ;
a scientific interpretation (perception, system) ;
an archaic interpretation (the elements of life : Red = Earth, Blue = Water, Yellow = Fire, Grey = Air).
It is an experimental work about the persistence of vision.
For example, when the blue is above the red, a thin white line appears between the two colors.
Red absorbs blue at its boundary (a darker shade therefore appears on the edge of the red) while blue cancels out red at its boundary (a lighter shade apperars on the edge of the blue).
This phenomenon, linked to simultaneous contrast, creates an area of visual tension that can be perceived as a thin, clear line between the two colors.
Phenomenon of simultaneous contrast, edge effect, and chromatic interactions, had been studied by Josef Albers in his work about the color.
The fact that it is painted with thick acrylic material, gives it a vibration that you can never obtain in digital.
Primary Colors Basic Serie is a minimalist modular system that generates optical phenomena according to its different configurations.
A closer focus on the Yellow Serie to better see the acrylic material and understand the manufacturing process.
Back in past, in digital art, « Attempt002 » , done in 2007 by myself. (Apophysis x PS)
Proud to see this one still used on many desktops around the world today.
