hannah was staring down at her food , picking at it with her fork with an empty mind. she felt too broken after bryce’s party. she was full of regret... and yet still felt like she was hollow inside. she felt eyes on her which made her look up with her glistening ones. ❛ sorry , did you need something ? ❜ she asked , her voice breaking in the middle of her sentence.

Tyler wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone. That is how he felt and he let it surround him. If you don’t make eye contact with people, they won’t even notice you. His hands feel disconnected from his body and he doesn’t know where to put them so he looks up to asses his surroundings. A big mistake, hitting direct sight with a person. Not just any person--- BUT SUDDENLY Tyler knew exactly what to say. “Uh.... I don’t know if it means anything, you know.. now- but for what it is worth HE TRIED to help me with something at the end.” The newfound steadiness of his voice will be an eternal surprise to him. He left a lot out, about the bad things, but he just felt the need to say his part. Part of his part. / @mercybroke

things had been.... quite difficult for everyone in school since bryce’s death. everyone had a different opinion about how they felt. but cyrus couldn’t imagine how mercy felt. ❛ ----- are you okay ? ❜ he asked , standing over her as she sat. he personally didn’t like bryce. he hated what he did to those girls but.... he never wished anyone dead.

“I haven’t lost shit.” the trial has him ON EDGE, the feeling that the whole world is against him growing by the day. is he sad about what happened to hannah? sure, but he hardly thinks hes AT FAULT. oblivious to his own awful actions - or perhaps WORSE, perhaps aware but uncaring. which would be worse? “I'm perfectly IN CONTROL, okay? the shit they're saying its- its BULLSHIT.” but he knows it isn’t, and he’s sure she knows it too. after those tapes being released, who knows what she thinks. he wants to think that she’s on HIS SIDE, wants to think that the family will stick together, but he’s already seen the way their mother avoids his gaze, the way she almost seems to hope that the trial TAKES HIM DOWN.
“mercy, come on.” trying to seem like the INNOCENT brother, tries to seem like he’s done nothing wrong and she’s being irrational. he knows that isn’t the case, knows deep down that what he did was BAD and she has every right to be against him. but he thinks he deserves his family together. or on his side at the least. but anyone keeping up with everything knows he doesn’t deserve that. “mercy, you know me. you know i’m not a BAD GUY.”
GRABBING AHOLD OF THE ATTENTION of the first somewhat kind looking female peer had been a plan well analyzed, rosy lips parting in a confident tone. ❛ EXCUSE ME, so sorry to bother you. i can’t figure out where the field is ? i have tryouts ? ❜ frail fingers were wrapped tautly around a wrinkled piece of paper, a map of the campus / ineffective at best. a friendly grin brought the rising of cheeks. ❛ could you ━━ show me ? if it isn’t a bad time for you, of course. ❜

she was scared. no, that was an understatement. chloe was utterly terrified. not to mention embarrassed. for a multitude of reasons. bryce had just testified that morning, and she’d walked out of that court room. ashamed. and then jessica showed her those polaroid photos. she wasn’t ready to reach out to her mom yet and she knew her sister was much too young and innocent, there was no way she could mention this to her. but she’d grown to like bryce’s sister, and she was quiet so she probably wouldn’t have to worry about rumors spreading - not that it mattered anymore. maybe she’d be scarring the little walker too, but she’s not nearly as young as amelia. she had to tell someone. she had to show someone. so here she found herself, lingering outside the walkers mansion grateful to spot mercy outside so she wouldn’t run into bryce. she probably wouldn’t be doing this otherwise - although she knows bryce went back to the school for baseball practice.
“hey.” she mutters softly in the girls direction as she approaches her. “c-can we talk?”
