Planescape Factions in Quotes
The Athar
There are no stories told in a vacuum There is no prophecy lighting our way There is just a lot of darkness to be afraid of So it's a good thing we are not afraid
There is no Superman in that phone booth There is no rewarding our faith There is no one who can save us So it's a good thing we don't need to be saved
There are no starships in low earth orbit No aliens to save us from ourselves There is no voice willing to speak for us So it's a good thing we know how to yell!
There is no chosen one, no destiny, no fate There's no such thing as magic There is no light at the end of this tunnel So it's a good we brought matches
Mercykiller
“ Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach. This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No.”

“There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one's safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to he was sane and had to. Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle. ―Joseph Heller, Catch-22 Joseph Heller

Just discovered a photo of mine ran in U-T San Diego newspaper! This was an intense Mercy Killers' portrait session out in the rain, just the right mood for the incredible play's plot-line about uninsured health problems.
Mercykillers
And now to cap off this foursome of articles, the faction itself, the Mercykillers.
The wardens, bounty hunters, and executioners of Sigil, the Mercykillers serve in the triumvirate of justice alongside the police force of the Harmonium and the judges of the Guvners. Over the last eight years, this faction's ranks have expanded to nearly 25,000 strong. The Mercykillers are given the duties of watching over the Prison, ensuring that all convicted criminals fulfill their sentences. As part of this job, they also have the responsibilities of tracking down those who have escaped justice, either from the investigations of the Harmonium or from the Prison itself, and of executing those judged to deserve such a fate.
Alisohn Nilesia
Today we have the factol of the Mercykillers, Alisohn Nilesia!
The youngest factol in the history of the Mercykillers, Alisohn Nilesia has placed her mark not only on the faction, but on the entire city of the Sigil more quickly than any blood in a very long time. Ascending with lightning speed from the lowest of lows, she has taken a route that only the foolish would have predicted, devoted to her cause with an utter intensity that even those ten times her age would envy.
Vorkehan
Continuing with the Mercykillers, we have the Acheronian outpost city of the faction, Vorkehan, the City of Fumes.
Once the gate-town to Acheron, the city of Vorkehan today stands as the chief military base for the Mercykillers outside the city of Sigil. Dating back as a faction holding to the days of the Sodkillers, this fortress city stands within the corner of one of the more moderately-sized cubes of Avalas, carved like all Acheronian settlements into its surface as though it were a single gargantuan objet d'art, its "walls" topped with adamantine spikes whose tips burn with witchfire, serving as landmarks and warnings for cubes miles distant.
Mercykiller Wyrm
One of the lesser-seen creatures, but unknowingly icon as the beast that gives the Mercykillers their symbol, here's the Mercykiller Wyrm.
The Mercykiller wyrm is a breed of wyvern bred over the last centuries, kept first by the Sodkillers and then, following the Great Upheaval, the Mercykillers. Bred for ferocity, these creatures are kept on theOutlands at a secluded location, with a single wyrm — traditionally named by the faction "the Great Green Wyrm" — kept in Sigil at the Tower of the Wyrm for prisoner intimidation and, at times, execution. All Mercykiller wyrms are carefully watched over by the faction, with any attempts at harm, theft, or harassment quickly responded to with full force.
And being a related topic that's a bit too small for it's own post, let's include a piece on blood of justice, a substance the faction derives from this creature.
