Best kept secret: Though they’re more Meri’s secrets than the clan’s: Nadja and Kuen, and Huginn and Muninn’s existence, probably. Meri’s the only one that knows that Nadja and Kuen are alive (and the only one who knows about the experiments he performs on her), and the only one that knows that Huginn and Muninn aren’t just a pair of elegant birds that like hanging around Meri’s lair.

As a clan, their best kept secret is probably everything surrounding the protector golems, Cassie, Goleski, and Dani. Few ask about them; to most they just seem like particularly pretty decorative statues, placed at the mouth of the main entrance and called “guardians” of the clan more as superstition or reference to Cassie and Goleski’s apparent breed than anything else. Clan Dial of the Shifting Expanse are the only ones who know anything about them at all, and even then it’s just surface knowledge about Cassie and Goleski (Dani they know a rather lot about, seeing as she was a gift from them).

Worst kept secret: ??The fact that Mor has shady af underground, black market dealings probably pfft. His title’s Spymaster for chrissake, you’d think they’d want to be more careful about that.

woW MIX ASKIN THE HARD QUESTIONS

Most everyone in the various subclans gets along fairly well, though if I had to chose it’d probably be Savitri, Meridyne, or Morcant.

Savitri’s odd temper (hers fluctuates even more wildly than Hwonton’s, which is really saying something) unsettles many, as do her appearance (she is beautiful, certainly, but in a way that makes many feel somewhat perturbed in a way they can’t describe) and the ambition that is so evident in her eyes. How easily she worked her way into Edel’s inner circle, too, makes several clan members, especially those who where there for Edel, Meri, and Mor’s coup, very nervous.

Meridyne just outright has a very unsettling aura about him. It’s probably the Shade thing. Also he’s an asshole.

Mor’s just. Kind of. Creepy?? In the way that people who work in shady dealings and underhanded agreements and, you know, assassinating people, tend to be.

Meridyne, easily. He hides it behind a quiet, introverted, courteous mask, but the Shade affliction has made him heartless and cruel. It’s easy to see, for anyone who wants to - how deftly he executed the coup, how ruthlessly he tore apart Xin’s friend, how even now he experiments on a half-maddened Nadja for his own pleasure.

It’s all the sadder knowing that, before the Shade corrupted him, he was a legitimately kind, sweet person who would have objected to hurting even a fly.

To Clan Parasitoid

The package arrives several days later, though it is not so much delivered as strategically placed in a spot only slightly less mucus-covered than those around it. There is no messenger in sight by the time the package is found, though there are a few small feathers, their pure white color looking distinctively out of place.

Affixed to the package is a letter sealed by a small, unmarked glob of deep blue wax. It has been composed on strange paper: eggshell white, cool to the touch, and smooth as silk. The words inside are written in an elegant, looping hand, and seem to purr even without a voice to speak them.

I would like to commend Clan Parasitoid for its truly remarkable work. Ruby - I thought the name you gave him quite fitting, given what a pretty little thing he is - is perfectly courteous and a delightfully obedient plaything, and looks particularly pretty with a chain around his neck. If I were to voice any complaint, it would be that his conversational skills are somewhat lacking, though even that is charming in its own way.

On the subject of chains: I took the liberty of replacing his collar with one of our clan's own make. Feng and Huo get very testy when they see work that isn't their own. The original I have sent back to you; please consider it part of your tip.

Unfortunately for me, it seems he has also caught the attention of our clan's healer. Xin insisted on taking the boy as an apprentice not two days after his arrival and has scarcely let him out of sight since. The old grump is hard enough to please as it is and I am loathe to take from him something that has struck his fancy, so it seems I've lost my pet. And so soon after purchasing him, too, what a shame.

At any rate, it seems I will be back to peruse your wares sooner rather than later. I am sure you will not disappoint.

Inside the package is a simple copper collar, spotless and buffed to a nearly reflective shine, and a small cloth bag. Something inside clinks brightly when it is moved.
