“Okay,” he says. He chuckles under his breath and pecks her lips. “For the record, I’ll miss you as well. Keep an eye on your phone tonight. It’s incredibly likely that I’ll be bored or irritated by your friends and will end up texting you.”
She playfully hits him before she starts heading for the door. “One of those friends is your daughter, mind you. But if you’re looking for a worthy match for your intelligence,” she teases as her phone chimes, “I’m pretty sure that Digg and Lyla are bringing J.J. I’ve gotta go, my Uber’s here.”
“It’s fortunate you're as cute as you are. Anyone else would surely receive retribution for a remark like that.”
The blonde twirls around to face Malcolm as they make their way into the elevator. “You love it though, don’t lie.”
As the doors close, Malcolm wraps his arms around Felicity, a devilish smile on his lips. “Indeed, I do,” he replies before pulling her in for another kiss.
“Yeah, yeah, of course. What happened to you?”
Malcolm huffs out a quiet laugh and shuts his eyes for a moment. “I highly doubt it is a story you would enjoy.”
“That’s probably very true, especially knowing your track record,” she agrees.

THE STORM
When Felicity sees the archers approach, relieved isn’t the word she’s looking for, but it’s close. And while yes, Oliver’s doing something incredibly stupid, between him and Malcolm, she may actually live to try that new cupcake place near her apartment. Once she gets out of her cage, it takes all her willpower not to run up and kiss Malcolm, but now’s not the time.
After Oliver splits them up into the two groups, she’s ready to fight his decision, but one glance from Malcolm tells her not to. He’s put into her group, calming her nerves enough to not yell at her ex.
Everything’s fine (relatively speaking) until things take a turn for the worst. Thea steps on a live landmine, making Malcolm’s paternal instincts kick in.
“From the moment you were born, all I’ve ever wanted was to protect you.”“You don’t have to, I didn’t ask for you to!”“A child doesn’t have to ask.”
The hacker is frozen in place. She so selfishly wants to interrupt, but that wouldn’t be fair to either of them.
“Don’t do this, okay?”“You may not think of me as your father, Thea, but you’ll always be my daughter.”
It isn’t until Harkness makes his presence known that Felicity moves. Curtis and Samantha turn to run, but Felicity can’t help but linger. She runs up to Malcolm, pressing a kiss to his lips before a distressed “I love you” escapes them both. He has to yell at her to go before she starts to sprint.
She can’t bring herself to look back.
Then comes the explosion.
She can feel her heart shatter, dropping in her chest and it feels like her stomach is a bottomless pit. Her legs feel like jello as she just runs. She doesn’t have the luxury of screaming, not right now.
They have to make it home, or else it would all have been for nothing.
THE WRECK
Survivor’s guilt only gets worse when it’s someone you love who takes the fall. Felicity’s nightmares have become more intense, to the point where she’s keeping herself up so she doesn’t have to relive his death. She hasn’t slept in seventy hours.
At the sound of knocking on the door at three in the morning, she’d normally be furious, but she’s too numb to care. She whips the door open, and the scowl on her face softens when she sees her dead boyfriend at the door.
“No. No. Hallucinations start at four days without sleep, this isn’t right. God, I can’t even not sleep right.”
“Felicity–”
“Let me guess. ‘Felicity, it’s me. You’re okay, I’m okay, everything’s okay. Let’s just forget about this whole thing and calm down.’”
“Felicity. I’m here.” He reaches out to grab her hand and he brings it to rest over his still-beating heart. “I’m here.”
“Oh my god.” While it may seem too good to be true, Felicity doesn’t care. She slowly comes closer and leans her head on his chest. “I missed you.”
“I know,” follows a kiss to the top of the blonde’s head. “We’ll talk more about it in the morning. Right now, I think both of us could use some rest.”
“Okay.” She smiles softly, starting to give into the pull to sleep. And although he’s the one that’s just evaded death, he’s carrying Felicity up the stairs to bed.
