I don't know, maybe because I want to believe in people's humanity and after all the times real people dissapointed me, I want to believe that at least fictional villains/antagonists are capable of good deep down.

pretty late to the party but oliver states he got groomed by merlyn in GA rebirth issue 17, where he says when he was a child, "when i went to the merlyn's, it was less about seeing tommy (his friend, merlyn's son) and more to see his dad (merlyn)" along olilver saying he and merlyn had an "unnatural interest in each other"

anon ur so genius and ur just in time for the party bc i'm always thinking ab this. thank you for the issue number and quote ect. bc i haven't read ga 2016 for a whileee and i couldn't put my finger on what it was that kinda made me think ab ollie and merlyn in that context, but whoof.

ollie comparing his relationship with malcolm to his mother being seduced... what i know understand to be an unnatural interest. going to tommy's house for malcolm more than tommy.. someone to groom. this is all so interesting. poor ollie, man.

idk i don't have anything very refined to say but ollie and merlyn are one of the things that rebirth did better than post-crisis in my opinion bc this adds a lot more to the weird but kinda substanceless obsession merlyn had with ollie in post crisis.
