also idk how good these will be because I kid you not I’m making these up on the spot

so you know that stereotype about men having bad handwriting and women having good handwriting?

yeah no

I wouldn’t necessarily say that merula has bad handwriting... just really sloppy

like she’s always in a hurry to just finish writing whatever she’s writing to go do something else

likes to take naps in the common room

but only during her free period when no one is around

because

she doesn’t feel comfortable sleeping around other people

but the common room is kinda like a dark, cozy aquarium

particularly enjoys the spot by one of the windows that look into the black lake

just thinks it’s really cool

literally don’t tell anyone but she hates wizarding music

it’s just... so many magical metaphors and such

and while she understands them being a pure blood

she just

too many

prefers muggle music....

it’s simpler

isn’t a big fan of jewelry

especially necklaces

she always feels like they’ll fall off... that and the fact that she can’t run or speed walk wearing one because they always bounce around

she does like rings though

has a bunch of those

her favorite is a silver banded one that her mom gave her

used to belong to her but merula kept sneaking in to wear it and at that point her daughter wore it more than she did

so she just gave it to her

she had others anyway

btw just a fair warning these will probably be random and scatter-brained!

her favorite season is spring but she doesn’t like to admit that

as much as she tries to act tough, spring always just lifts her spirits, y’know?

she’s away from home, able to use her magic, doesn’t have to worry about wearing like 72 different layers, no leaves everywhere that always crunch under her heavy shoes

thinks she’s off her rocker and just plain rude

at least merula doesn’t make excuses when she’s mean...

she loves animals but for some reason only the really big ones seem to love her back

perhaps she has a dog back home... a big one like a great dane or something

but she kinda maybe sorta gets a little upset whenever she tries to pet the puffskeins and they just.

slowly back away.

put if she stays consistent in her efforts, they eventually come around!

tells everyone her favorite color is like?? green or black or something but I imagine she’s actually very fond of purple?

a dark, rich purple but still.

for whatever reason she keeps that a secret.

actually gets surprisingly attached prettily quickly?

like as much as ismelda annoys her sometimes... she already lost barnaby.. she doesn’t think she wants to go for a second

tells everyone ismelda is just her lackey but actually enjoys her company quite a bit whenever she’s not talking about curses or dark magic and such

really misses barnaby but is wayyyy too proud to do anything about it

let alone say something.

i can also see her being a little put down whenever she finds out diego became friends with mc too

like? he’s been training her for weeks (months maybe idk) but mc just bats their eyes and suddenly she’s alone again

even if she wasn’t positively certain she’d consider caplan a friend per se...

that hurt.

I can see her having a food allergy but to what??? idk
