This mfer single handedly gave me art block for two weeks TwT

Still not gonna stop me from explaining the design LETSGO

So I did actually go back to reread and check any canon details of which there aren't many, but we do have a lot of environmental and story stuff to go off of so >:3 YAYOOO. First of all, mainly, HE POOR. Obviously he's not spending money on clothes because if he had any money, he'd spend it on food. Which isn't happening. Because there is no money. So the clothes have to be stolen and therefore won't fit properly cuz they're made for someone else. And not in great condition cuz. Need I repeat myself. Also I made his hair all choppy and overgrown and uneven because I don't assume there's a barber shop nearby he can just swagger on into and get a haircut and he's probably not very good at cutting his own hair. If I had to guess, he'd use the dagger but that's getting off topic :P Point is: Shaggy hair. And not in a stylish way. Well unless you ask Ranboo but they're biased for reasons obvious to everyone but them.

Now for one of the only actual canon details we do get: Eye color (self explanatory) and the fact his skin is scarred/bruised. Obviously the main face scar is covered up but I did try and just make him look as beat up as possible (poor guy TwT) on the bits of skin we do see. Also I tried to be realistic with some of the damage on the clothes, they're most worn on the knees, elbows and heels, and with the latter two you can actually see the damage has been patched over and the patches are starting to wear out too. Also also, those specific patches are in fact the same colour as the pants. Make your own conclusion:)

I'll be honest the shoes are my self indulgent little thing. I love drawing this specific type of sock shoe string tied thing :P and I don't remember any mention of footwear. I would make him barefoot but I assume running around vaguely medieval Europe esque streets barefoot would give you an infection in like 0.5 seconds so he'd be dead before the story could even start. So. Sock shoes it is.

And that's pretty much it idk if you have any questions or canon additions that I missed shoot away :P

Anyway gonna TRY to do Ranboo next but if it's as much of a struggle as this one I'll see u in like a month TwT but I take forever to do literally anything so who's surprised atp :P

Chommy the disgruntled in all his glory because I got bored today

Now you might think "he does not have proper lineart!" or "the shading is kinda funky" And to that I say if he wanted lineart and good shading he shoulda tried being a main character from the beginning

Ok so to the design yap. Uh. I did not have much to work with :D like :D nothing actually, at least that I could find, except for the fact that he is blonde. But alas I tried. I know he canonically does not have any headwear (is that a word in English? It is now), which is why Tubbo noticed his shiny ass hair in the first place, but while figuring out how to translate his baseball shirt into vaguely fantasy medieval clothes, the tiny hood cape just seemed like the best idea.

Now for figuring out the rest I had to chase after context clues once more. I assume he'd be financially better off than Tubbo, seeing as he is a part of some sort of organisation (even if it's an illegal one). However there is an important detail that can tell me how much better off I can make him look. Because he says (to which extent is that true we don't really know, but it doesn't really matter. I assume at least somewhat it is, based on his political opinions) that he's a street kid. And he has to look the part, because Tubbo believes him. So that's what I went off of, just to a lesser degree than w Tubbo. Tommy only gets a bit of dust on his face (and legs but that got lost while I was shading so just imagine it there), the cheap sock shoes and cargo shorts that actually weren't cargo before, he sewed the pockets on. You can see the stitches because he doesn't understand the concept of reversing clothes to hide them.

Also I know it's not canon (yet? Pwetty pweeease???/j) but I HAD TO REFERENCE THE CLINGY BANDANAS SOMEHOW EVEN IF IT KILLED ME so he's got that fabric just wrapped around his ankle and you make up a canon explanation:)

And yeah that's pretty much it like I said not a lot to go off of since he only got proper introduced later on but I hope I did him justice anyway

SORRYYYYYYYY nat 1wn8ure vs providing ANY character description. i'm losing bad. yes headwear is a word!! and i LOVE the hood cape it's so perfect literally was the first thing i noticed about the full design and i went "oh that's good. that's great actually why didn't i think of that". this is EXACTLY what tcg!tommy looks like now and no i will not be taking criticisms

your media literacy is OFF THE CHARTS you're so correct!!! tommy's a little bit better off than tubbo primarily because he's actually got People around him and supporting him unlike tubbo who's been on his own forever and ever. and some of those people even have Jobs!!! BUT! and this is very important to me - he *was* Tubbo for a long time before he got involved with the resistance. that's part of why they click so well!!! (and because it's clingy they're clingy in every universe i don't make the rules) i also ADORE the detail of the self-made cargo shorts i think they're so charming and perfectly practical. that's where he keeps all of his Spoils

It took a while but alas I present to you tcg!Ranboo... He also green in color... Or something...

And I couldn't decide which outfit to draw so I did two, regretted it, realized I put in way too much time to quit now and just finished it to the best of my ability. Btw yes I hand drew each panel on the skirt, don't look too closely it ruins the illusion that I knew what I was doing <3

Something something about Tubbo's artwork having messier colouring and this one staying perfectly within the lineart. Because. It sounded cool when I was drawing.

OK YAP FEST TIME.

Ok so the main design philosophy I had while working on the design (at least the first one) actually came from something you said under the Tubbo art, which was (paraphrasing) that Tubbo and Ranboo are meant to be contrasts to each other and that Tubbo's clothes are practical and not much else. Which would of course mean that Ranboo's clothing would be for basically everything but practicality. They're for show, to be flashy and pretty and expensive looking. The red gems (because I just had to reference the original red-green eye colors at least somehow) are just there for a shiny pop of color, the leg straps serve absolutely no purpose, there is literal gold as decoration on their shoes. You get the point. Also there would be jewelry if I remembered to draw it so just. Imagine that there.

For the second outfit we got a- omg. Is that real. Am I seeing that right? A FULL OUTFIT DESCRIPTION????? IN MY 1WN8URE FANFIC???? UNHEARD OF. /j anyway jokes aside I just went off the description and then made the skirt green because cmon I had to. It is specifically said that Ranboo puts Niki's clothes over whatever they're wearing at that moment (which. I don't remember it being said what that was O-O but correct me if I'm wrong) so I kept the shoes the same, but if I had to figure out the shape of two layers of clothes I would not survive, so you get this. Also forgive me for forgetting the necklace on here, which is literally a minor plot point, I was busy contemplating jumping out of the window after spending an hour drawing ruffles so I forgot /j

For their actual physical design I just. Hard improvised. Like. Uhm. They got pointy ears. I debated for a long time on the split color skin (since I couldn't find a mention of that) but decided to put it in and make it human skin tones in the end, which. I say it works well enough. I'm realising now I could've just asked you but I will not be redrawing this for reasons you should know by now :) (at least not a fully colored and shaded artwork). The ponytail is my own addition (not that Ranboo's hairstyle is ever mentioned I think) but somehow it makes sense to me

Once again I don't know if I said everything and if you have any further questions or notes, shoot away, I will explode from happiness. Also ik it sounds like I complained a LOOOT but it's just for shits and giggles I don't actually mean it srsly I had SM fun <33 creative freedom go brrrrrrr and like ofc not everything will be described, it's a story not a fashion magazine so Yuh :P

ANYWAY. i am so so obsessed with them. lars. you have this incredible ability to read my mind and create EXACTLY what i was imagining even when i don't describe it it's beautiful it's wonderful i'm OBSESSED. i need everybody to look at this IMMEDIATELY. AND!!!!

(/j) you got TWO outfit descriptions because i all of a sudden decided to describe things this chapter. this is growth. i'm learning <3 and this is after tubbo tells ranboo to hide the necklace mhm mhm it's there it's just hidden. how do you hide a necklace with a lace-up front top???? shhhhhhhhhhhh it's hidden THEY GOT POINTY EARS!!! i actually intentionally left out any mention of their skin because the idea i had for Plot and Narrative purposes never matched up with my imagination for Artistic and Aesthetic purposes so i decided to leave it up to reader interpretation and i have fallen in LOVE with your take i love it so much. i also REALLY enjoy their hair, especially the two little opposite color braids - it's kind of a complicated hairstyle to pull off but of COURSE it is, why wouldn't it be? they don't have any time constraints on them, they don't have to worry about putting it up quickly so of course it's gonna be something intricate. i also love the additional contrast of choppy, messy, practical tubbo hair and this elegant, sophisticated, intricate hairstyle. they're just so Different you see. i also think ranboo only started putting their hair up a few weeks after meeting tubbo, because they realized that having loose hair when sprinting over rooftops is perhaps Not the most pleasant of experiences (despite the fact that it's actually More dangerous to have a ponytail which can be grabbed) i'm so thrilled with your permission this is also going on the fic. thank you thank you thank you for bringing these characters to life you have no idea how much this means to me. i am forever indebted to you and shall repay your hard work with chapter 7 sometime in the future (I shant say soon for risk of being heckled for deceit BUT college does end soon so the odds are looking better)

I was just reading this post about how to be such an annoying fake boyfriend that your fake girlfriend's religious parents are relieved that she's actually gay and there was a section about annoying pet names and they suggested "my liver" or "my little cabbage"

AND I THINK CTUBBO WOULD ACTUALLY USE THOSE

idk if he'd do it sincerely or just to make cRanboo suffer but I absolutely think he would somehow find a way to use awful and off-putting pet names like that it would be so funny and anyone else in the vicinity would be so confused and concerned

OH ABSOLUTELY “my little chunk of nuclear waste” “my little sewage rat”

And Ranboo gets all flustered and warm every time no matter how strange of a pet name it is. 10 out of 10 times he acts like he’s just been called “my beloved” which only motivates Tubbo to keep finding weirder things to call them

Ranboo reciprocates once (my little lab experiment) and Tubbo gets so flustered that Ranboo actually feels a little bit bad, but Tubbo gets them back later by calling them his little used teabag (which causes Ranboo to drop the mug he was holding, much to their distress and Tubbo’s delight)

Also it’s not on the references but she wears a lot of sunflowers. Flower crown, tucked behind their ear, etc- just always a sunflower somewhere on them. And they have little bug wings :]]]]
