Robert had just walked into the pub, Seb babbling away on his hip, smiling at Vanessa who was propping up the bar. He made his way over to his and Aaron’s usual booth, his husband meant to be joining him and Seb for dinner. He had just settled Seb onto his lap as chas emerged from the backroom, Liv trailing behind her.

‘You alright love? Hows the little one?’ Chas asked, as both of them sat in the booth opposite to Robert and Seb.

‘Yeah I'm good, the ones been grisly all day though, he's got a tooth coming through’

‘Yeah i know I can hear him in the middle of the night when I'm trying to sleep’ Liv replied

‘At least he doesn’t stomp upstairs, slam his bedroom door and turn his music up full blast’

‘That was once Rob, you’ve got to stop going on about that. And thats not even half as bad as some of the things you and Aaron get up to, I'm saving those for my speech at the wedding’ Liv grinned as she announced her plans while Chas just sat there trying to contain her laughter at the two bickering siblings. 

‘She's got you there love, but maybe keep the speech clean Liv, I don't want to know about my son’s sex life’ Chas explained as Robert went quiet and suddenly Seb’s hands became very interesting.

‘And you think I do, I don't get a choice in the matter’ Liv exclaimed just as she caught Aaron walking into the pub and over to them.

‘You two aren't winding each other up again are you?’ Aaron asked as he sat down next to Robert, squeezing his leg in greeting and stroking Seb’s face. Seb automatically making grabby hands towards him, while trying to escape Robert’s hold on him and make his way to Aaron’s lap instead.

Aaron always gave the better cuddles. Especially when his beard was in need of a trim. Seb could get a could get a grip on it and would pull until Aaron groaned in pain.

‘I’ll leave you lot to it’ Chas announced as she got up, but not before she gave Aaron a kiss on his head before making her way behind the bar. Aaron had noticed she’d been doing that a lot more recently, almost as if she was savouring every moment.

When Aaron though about it, she guessed she was. Never wanting to forget any of the moments they shared together. Aaron knew that he couldn't bear it if something were to happen to Seb so he could only imagine the ordeal that his mum and Paddy were going through.

‘You joining us for tea Liv?’ Robert asked while stroking his hand over Seb’s head and then resting it on his husband’s thigh.

‘Nah gonna head to Gabby’s, plus I can't deal with another night of you two being all soppy with each other’ Liv explained as she got up stroking Seb’s cheek as she left.

‘Don't know what she means’ Aaron murmured while making silly faces at Seb.

Robert did, he knew how soft they became with each other when no one else was around. No judgements from other people. Just the two of them. The two of them were many things including, 

Fathers to seb. 

Brothers to liv. 

But most importantly,

Husbands.

(and that meant they could be soppy with each other)

Robert had just dropped Seb off at Vic’s for the night. Apparently Aaron had taken all of her Seb cuddles because of the time he had been taking off work to look after him. So Vic had been determined to take him for the night. And who was Robert to complain about free childcare.

It also meant that until Liv made it back from the cinema in town, where she had gone with her mates, him and Aaron had the house to themselves. Robert couldn't wait to spend the night in with his husband. As much as he loved Liv and Seb it was becoming increasingly difficult for him and Aaron to spend time just the two of them alone. Something that they both craved for.

He’d just stopped by David’s to get them a couple of pizzas and beers. Robert not wanting to waste any of their time together tonight by cooking. Robert had just reached the front door to The Mill and was just about to unlock the door to their flat when he could hear a soft snore coming from inside.

Laying on the sofa was Aaron. His beautiful husband was asleep. He quietly closed the door behind him and placed his shopping bag down. He moved slowly over towards him and extracted the blanket from the back of the sofa over him and placed a featherlight kissed on Aaron’s head. 

The TV was playing quietly in the background. He made his way to the kitchen and made a start on putting their pizzas in the oven because no matter how much Aaron would be asleep, the smell of food always managed to bring him round.

It was close to fifteen minutes later when Robert heard Aaron stirring. The younger man groaning as he stretched his back out. 

‘You know we have a perfectly good bed upstairs that your back would thank you for’ Robert explained as he wandered over to sit where Aaron’s feet had been moments before.

‘Shut up smart arse. Didn't plan on falling asleep did I? Last thing I remember was sitting down watching the telly’

‘Alright, alright. I got us pizza for dinner, that alright? Then we can do whatever we want. Just us two until Liv comes back’

‘Yeah though thats what I could smell. Seb get off okay? He was quite restless today, didn't want to be put down. Are you sure Vic’s gonna be alright with him for the night?’ Aaron argued while moving closer to Robert to be brought in for a comforting side hug.

‘Yeah of course he’ll be fine and even if he isn’t Vic knows where we are. Come on stop worrying about him. Tonight is just us, we could plan some of the wedding? Got a couple of ideas I’ve been thinking about.’ 

‘Hmm yeah sounds good but can we have an early night? Talk about it in bed or something. Want to make the most of a quiet house.’

‘An early night you say? Sounds very good to me.’ Robert lifted his eyebrows suggestively at Aaron.

‘Get your mind out the gutter Rob. When I said an early night, I meant literally an early night. To catch up on sleep, c’mon I know you haven't been sleeping very well lately either.’ Aaron muttered just as Robert go up to remove the pizzas from the oven.

‘Yeah you're right I know. You go up and get ready and I’ll lock everything and bring these up.’ Robert explained while cutting the pizzas into slices.

‘Nah you're alright I’ll lock up while you finish them and we’ll go up together. I’ll make you a deal, if I like one of your wedding ideas, I’ll give you a blow job’

‘That’s unfair Aaron because you know you aren't going to like any of them and even if you did, yup say you hated them all anyway. So really you're just teasing me’ Robert exclaimed while he waited at the bottom of the staircase for Aaron.

‘Well then you better make sure that I like one of your ideas then. No five layered cake with twenty-seven different flavours or place settings written with some fancy ink’ Aaron smirked while bringing two beers with him.

‘How about flamingos at the end of the aisle?’

‘I think you’ll have to spend the night reminding me while I should marry you, because at the moment there’s only about a fifty percent chance I’ll be there’

Who was Aaron kidding, of course he’d be there. No matter how daft Robert could be, he would never be without him.

part one

‘Liv is that you?’ Robert said as he made his way down the stairs while shrugging on one of Aaron’s hoodies having just had a shower. Robert could see Liv curled up one side of the sofa.

‘Yeah, it’s nothing I'm just being daft’ Liv sniffed while wiping her face, trying to conceal that she had just been crying.

‘You know you can talk to me, or Aaron if you want, he’ll be back with Seb in a bit’ Robert stated as he moved to sit down next to Liv.

‘No I’m fine honestly’ Liv made a move to stand up but Robert put a hand on her arm.

‘Hey, what ever it is I promise I won't judge, just want to make sure you're alright’

‘Promise you won't hate me?’ Liv mumbled

‘That’s impossible, whats going on?’

‘I just keep thinking about how much of a mess I've made of my life, especially this year. Everything has just fallen apart and Thursday is only gonna prove that’

‘Hey where has this all come from?’ 

‘I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately, and especially with results day coming up. I can't help but think how I've messed the rest of my life up and for what?’

‘Firstly you haven't ruined your life at all, no matter what results you get, there are always options. You can do whatever you want as long as you're determined. Secondly why didn't you talk to me or Aaron about this if you’ve been worried?’

‘I guess I just got so used to dealing with things on my own last year, with you not being here and Aaron not around so much and now Gerry’s gone and Gabby doesn't really understand. It just got harder to try and talk about what i was feeling’

‘Liv I had no idea, and I know I've said it before but I can't apologise enough for not being here for you. I’m here now and so is Aaron. We’re here for you, what ever you need. We love you, you're part of this dysfunctional family whether you like it or not’ Robert explained while pulling Liv towards him and hugging her.

‘Will you help me to look into college courses or something because I want to get my life sorted and put this year behind me’ Liv sniffed.

‘Of course I will, maybe something to do with art? We’ll sort everything out I promise. You're not on you're own Liv, so don't you forget that. How about a hot chocolate and some of them biscuits you hide from Aaron?’ Rob said as he made a move to get up and go to the kitchen.

‘Yeah that actually sounds like a good idea. Wait how did you know about the biscuits?’ Liv smiled

‘You're not as good as hiding them as you think, why'd you think that theres always a few missing?’ Both of them burst out laughing.

‘Hey Rob?’ Robert turned around ‘Thank you’

‘You're welcome’

Robert woke up to the sound of rain pelting it down onto their tent. He groaned as he rolled over, his body almost half onto Aaron. Their tent wasn't designed for two fully grown men. His body aching from spending the past two nights sleeping on the cold floor, no amount of extra bedding could keep them warm, their only hope was to zip their two sleeping bags together and cuddle for warmth. Not that either of them complained about it.

‘God why did I agree to come with you? Should of just let Liv have the ticket’ Robert mumbled while snuggling further into Aaron’s chest in an attempt to block out the noise of the rain and gain some warmth from Aaron’s body heat.

‘Shut up, you were having more fun than me yesterday’ Aaron replied while pulling his husband even further into him.

‘Yeah well, I’m not having fun now. Seriously why do people pay money to sleep outside in the mud?’

‘If I remember correctly this was all your idea. You know the one you gave Alex for my birthday present. So you’ve only got yourself to blame mate’ Aaron chuckled.

‘Well yeah but I never planned on going myself, knew you’d love it and Alex would hate it. So for me it was a win-win’

‘And how can you not be having fun? Just you and me four days in a tent, no annoying sisters or crying babies to interrupt us. We should be making the most of it’ Aaron suggested while dragging Robert on top of him, their bodies lining up automatically.

‘Oh yeah and what do you suggest we should be doing then?’ Robert smirked while raising his eyebrows suggestively. His eyes darting down to Aaron’s lips.

‘I think you know’ Aaron said while rolling his hips up into Robert’s groin. 

‘I think I know as well, but I want you to say it’ Robert couldn’t stop the small groan that escaped his lips when he could feel both his and Aaron’s hardness rubbing against each other.

‘C’mon Rob’ Aaron groaned while sliding his hands down Robert’s sides stopping at the waistband of the tracks he was wearing. They belonged to Aaron as the taller man would insist that they were not a suitable piece of clothing to own. No matter how many times he would knick a pair of Aaron’s, they would always be returned slightly stretched out, but they would smell like Robert so younger man would let him off. 

Neither of them were willing to be the first one to give into one another, so they had reached a stalemate. 

However Aaron could never resist the blonde man for too long, he slipped his hand below Robert’s waistband and gripped his cock between his fingers. Robert moaned and captured Aaron’s lips, their tongues battling. It quickly became rough and dirty (and not just from the mud).

‘Where’d you put the lube?’ Robert asked impatiently.

‘I don’t know I thought you had it?’

‘No you chucked it somewhere last night’

‘Erghh are you serious?’ Aaron growing frustrated that their sex might be delayed while the hunted around the tent for the bottle.

‘No I’m not, It’s right here’ Robert laughed while holding the small bottle up. Aaron’s face turned from one of pleasure to annoyance almost instantly.

‘You’re such a dick Robert’ Aaron spoke while manoeuvring Robert so that he was now beneath him, the action proving slightly difficult due to the restricted space in the sleeping bag.

‘You love me though’ Robert hadn't stopped laughing since tricking Aaron into thinking that they had lost the bottle of lube.

‘Just shut up’ Aaron lowered his face to reach Robert’s lips. The heat between them returning. As much as he was annoyed at Robert, he couldn't withhold sex as that would mean he himself would be miss out. 

He would just have to find a way to punish Robert.

Aaron had just finished shoving the rest of his clothes into his backpack when he heard heavy footsteps running up the stairs. There was only one person who it could be. Robert. There was a soft knock on his bedroom door before it was pushed open and his best friend appeared, throwing himself unceremoniously onto Aaron’s bed.

‘What are you doing, thought we were going out tonight? Why’ve you got your backpack? Are you going somewhere? Thanks for telling me’ Robert couldn't stop himself from asking so many questions he needed to know what was going on.

‘Run away with me Rob’ Aaron muttered, if Robert had been any further away he would have missed it.

‘What, why? What’s going on Aaron?’ Robert moved to sit up on the bed, he budged up enough to allow Aaron to come and it down next to him.

‘I can’t do it anymore Rob, this village is suffocating me and I know you feel the same. Think about what it would be like away from here. Just you and me, we could go anywhere, do anything’

‘I’d follow you anywhere in a heartbeat Aaron you know I would. But we’d have to be practical about this. What would we do for money? Chances are we wouldn’t be able to get decent paying jobs, no one wants to hire a couple of 18 year olds. Where would we live?’ Robert needed no convincing about the running away, truth be told he had been thinking about himself for a while but his lack of money was holding him back.

‘Why do you always have to be so practical. For once Rob can't you just be impulsive and live in the moment’ Aaron was getting frustrated that the conversation they were having wasn’t going the way he wanted. He had taken to pacing the length of his bedroom.

‘Don’t get angry with me Aaron, I’m on your side. I promise, but what happens in a couple of weeks when all our money has run out and we end up having to sleep on the streets. How would that be any better than living here in the village?’ 

‘Because it would just be me and you’ Aaron shouted, before realising what he had just said.

Robert was startled, he couldn't form any words. He just sat there looking up at Aaron.

‘Just forget I said anything’ Aaron said while making a grab for his backpack. Robert however was quicker, placing his own hand upon Aaron’s.

‘Just stop for a minute Aaron. Explain what you meant by what you just said’ Robert couldn't help but run his fingers soothingly over Aaron’s hand.

‘I can’t, I shouldn't have said anything. You won’t want to be friends anymore if I tell you’ Aaron snatched his hand back from under Robert and moved as far away from his best friend as possible. Sliding down the wall opposite his bed.

‘Aaron I’m you're best friend have been since I found you hiding from your mum in one of our barns. I promise you there is nothing you could say to make me leave you.’ Robert had moved off the bed and had crouched down in front of Aaron as he said this.

‘Promise?’

‘I promise you. You can trust me’ The two of them sitting opposite each other, eyes never leaving each others.

‘I’m in love with you Robert. I haven't worked it all out yet but that I know for certain and it scares me and I know you couldn't possibly feel the same so don’t worry about it or me. I’ll just leave on my own and you can forget I ever said anything’ Aaron scrambled up and grabbed his backpack before opening his bedroom door. Hoping that his mum was out the front in the pub so he could quietly leave out the back door.

‘WAIT’ Robert exclaimed, he grabbed Aaron’s hand before he could make it out the door. Robert spun him round and backed him up against the now closed door. Their faces inches away from each others, noses practically touching. Robert’s hands either side of the shorter ones face, while Aaron's had made their way to Robert’s waist. If you asked either of them, nether of them would know which leaned in first.

Their lips touched lightly at first, both unsure however Aaron gained more confidence after the first kiss, once he realised that Robert might actually feel the same. Their lips moving together in perfect sync, Robert having moved a leg in-between Aaron’s, allowing him to grind on something. Robert pulled back but only slightly, foreheads resting upon one another.

‘Why are you so impatient? You didn't even give me a minute to process what you had just said, let alone let me reply before you bolt out the door’ Robert laughed. Both sets of hands roaming around the others body. 

‘Well go on then. What were you going to say before you ravaged me?’ Aaron feeling more at ease. Robert always made him feel comfortable.

‘That I’m in love with you too’ Robert couldn't stop the smile that broke out onto his face. He leant back in to capture Aaron’s lips between his own.

Aaron’s thoughts about running away had fallen from his mind. The only thought going through his mind was Robert.

‘You were right when I said I wouldn’t want to be your friend anymore. I’m hoping that we could be something more than friends?’ Robert asked while stroking his hand down Aaron’s face.

‘Do you mean that?’

‘Of course I do’ 

The two of them still had more to talk about. 

But in that moment they were content with what was blooming between them.

Robert had just returned from a long all day haulage run. He was exhausted. He had left early this morning before even Seb had woken. He'd not managed to speak to Aaron all day. He'd just made it through the door of the mill and all he wanted to do was face plant his bed. This plan however was ruined by Aaron. His wonderful husband, who he did not deserve.

‘Whats this?’

‘Knew you'd had a long day and wouldn’t want to do anything tonight so I got Marlon to make your favourite, Seb is waiting for his daddy to give him a kiss goodnight and by the time you've done that theres a hot bath with your name on it’

‘Aaron I don't know what to say’

‘You don't need to say anything, you’d do the same for me, in fact you have done the exact same thing for me. So scoff your burger, go see Seb and i’ll run you that bath’

‘Thankyou’ Robert practically melted into Aaron’s embrace. Burying his face into the shorter man’s neck, placing light kisses onto his collarbone at the same time.

‘You're welcome, now go’ Aaron said as he slapped his husband’s backside.

‘Only if you join me in the bath?’

‘Cheeky sod, what makes you think I'll do that?’

‘You love me. And I know you love me naked even more’

‘Yeah yeah, keep dreaming’ Aaron laughed as he followed Robert upstairs. 

Suddenly Robert wasn't so tired anymore.

‘Oi mate, what d’ya think you're doing?’ Aaron exclaimed loudly as he pushed the guy off him who had just strode up and kissed him. The guy didn't move far though, hands still touching Aaron’s waist. The guy’s face looking anywhere but behind him.

‘Just pretend please, this girl won't take the hint’ The guy said looking straight into Aaron’s eyes. Aaron’s not entirely sure what he could see in them, but desperation was definitely there. 

‘What so kissing a guy and pretending to be gay is gonna work?’

‘I’m not pretending to be gay. And probably not she’s pretty persistant but it can't help to try?’ The guy smirked while taking a tiny step back to allow him to drag his eyes up aaron’s body. Checking him out. Aaron couldn't deny that felt hot under the scrutiny of this man.

‘So if your not pretending why does she think she's got a chance’ The two of them closer than ever, speaking directly into each others ears to ensure not a word is missed over the loud music blaring from the club.

‘I’m bi, so she technically has a chance but she's not exactly my type’

‘Yeah so what is? Your type that is?’

‘I’m not too fussed but I do have a soft spot for extremely attractive brunettes’

‘Not many of them around here, might wanna try your luck elsewhere mate’ Aaron smirked up at the stranger. 

He took in the stranger for the first time, Aaron couldn't deny that he was attractive. In fact he might go as far to say he’s beautiful. Dazzling green eyes that stood out from his blonde hair the was perfectly styled upon his head, dark blue shirt with a blazer and tight fitting jeans. Aaron couldn't deny that he wanted to see what them thighs would feel like wrapped around him.

‘Nah think I’m good right here, I’ve got my eyes on someone’ 

‘Yeah what makes you so confident that they're interested in you’

‘Oh I’m very confident and I always get what I want. You see I’m very determined’ The guy said as his eyes darted down to Aaron’s mouth.

‘You're cocky I’ll give you that. I don't even know your name so there’s no way I’m going home with you’

‘My name is Robert. So now that’s cleared up. Your place or mine?’ Robert smirked while grabbing ahold of Aaron’s hand in an attempt to get them to leave.

Robert left his place from the bar and made a move to walk towards the exit. Not once looking back to see if the shorter man was following. He knew he would be. He had barely made it out onto the street when he felt himself being pulled and dragged to the alley down by the side of club. His back slammed into the wall before he realised what was going on, suddenly Aaron was in front of him. On him would be more accurate.

‘Why wait? When there’s a perfectly good alley right here?’ Aaron dived in for a kiss. It was hot, the two of them battling for dominance. It was a mess of tongues and teeth. Hands roaming each others bodies, grabbing at their clothes.

Both of them so desperately trying to get the other ones belt off and zip undone. Not caring that they were in public and that anyone could walk pass and see them. Too absorbed in each other.

“Oi you two, get yourselves home before you get too handsy with each other’ The club’s security guard shouting at them from the end of the alley. 

Robert and Aaron quickly straightening their clothes before running in the opposite direction of the club giggling like teenagers. Robert slightly ahead pulling Aaron behind him. Hands intertwined. Robert looking back and sharing a knowing look with Aaron. 

The two of the not stopping until they reached Aaron’s flat.

Aaron had just about finished at the scrapyard for the day when he heard the crunching of the gravel outside the portakabin. A minute of so later Robert emerged through the door, Seb on his hip while struggling to push his pushchair at the same time. Why he was always determined to carry the infant baffled Aaron, instead of using the pushchair like it was designed for.

‘Give us a hand here, will ya?’ Robert moaned. Aaron got up from his desk and took Seb from Robert’s arms before returning to his previous seat. Seb automatically putting his hands onto Aaron’s face and playing with his beard. 

‘How are you little mate? Have you had fun with daddy today? Bet he didn't make you a pillow fort did he?’ Aaron was bouncing Seb up and down on his knee.

‘Actually I tried but he kept crying when I put him in it. Guess I don't have the magic touch that you do’ Robert explained while resting on Aaron’s desk, stroking his hand over Seb’s head.

‘Perhaps I should take tomorrow off while daddy goes to work and we can have fun together’ Aaron babbling to Seb while ignoring the glare Robert as giving her.

‘Stop using him as an excuse to skive off work again. You know we’ve got a wedding to pay for. It won’t be happening anytime soon if neither of us are at work’

‘I never said anything about you having the day off. You can go and earn the money while me and Seb can spend the day together’

“Oh I see how it is, you two ganging up on me’ Robert laughed ‘It’s not gonna be like this forever you know, once he’s old enough he’ll have enough sense to know that I’m the sensible one out of us both and side with me’

‘Nah cos by then they’ll be another couple of kids that can take my side’

‘Don’t know what world your living in if you think Liv will have have a couple of kids in the next few years’ Robert was confused.

‘Not Liv you idiot. Us.’ Aaron exclaimed while entertaining Seb with a hole punch. ‘And Liv, she's not having kids until she’s at least thirty’

‘Aaron Dingle, do you want my babies?’ Robert moved to stand up and walked round to the other side of Aaron, he grabbed his husband’s face between his hands.

‘Well I’ve already got one of them haven't I? Might as well have bunch of them’ Aaron had suddenly gone shy he tried to look down at Seb but Robert’s hands prevented him in doing so. He closed his eyes to avoid them connecting with Robert’s.

‘Oi look at me. I’d love to have more kids with you Aaron. On one condition though’

‘What’s that then?’

‘Next one has to look like you’ Robert whispered while leaning down to kiss Aaron’s lips. A smile breaking out onto both of their faces.

‘Deal’
