This is my translation of Stellatram’s rendition of the Song METHOD_MESSELA/. from their album Hymmnos Chronicle. It is a very context-heavy song, as well as one that’s very important to me, so I wanted to do my own translation of it. I included the original Hymmnos and Japanese lyrics if anyone is curious.
For those who don’t know, Messela mode is a forbidden mode shift of Infel Phira that essentially gives the Maiden of Mio control over all the IPDs. It is very heavily implied that Infel used it to start her war of revenge against the Goddess and the people, given the circumstances, the description in the setting book, and Toukousphere 85, where she evades a question about it.
The lyrics on the left seem to be Infel’s parts, while the indented lyrics are the IPDs she is controlling. I suspect they wrote it as a fusion, which makes sense given the context, and also there are two feelings contained sections for it (one that seems to be the story programmed in the hymn crystal, one that’s clearly Infel’s own feelings) Thus I translated 神 as “Goddess” here.
I also did a translation of the feelings contained section as well as the explanations Stellatram provided, but this got long, so I’ll be putting them in another post, right here: LINK
The flame’s blazing light shines to wipe away sorrow
The exalted voices gather under the guide of Mio
The cracked land whispers to me-
Place judgement on this lowly world
The sound of despair reverberates
It is the breath of the evil Goddess that weaves the night
The girl places her hand on the forbidden box, and makes a wish to dispel the night-
Grant me the power to kill death
It is a forbidden box
It must never be touched
Or else the world would be stricken with fear
A form emerged from the forbidden box- it was another me
Another me who wished to shatter the canopy enveloping this ugly world
Inside that box were 1000 gears for weaving a new land of ideals
With this, we’ll make our paradise a reality
The awakened fear weaves the Holy Maiden’s form
She whispers in the girl’s ear-
With this, we’ll make our paradise a reality
The assembled gears desiring revolution grant the girl the power to bring forth a dark order
Give punishment for crime
Give despair!
Give judgement to sinners
Give judgement!
Give servitude to the incompetent
Give faith!
Give the iron hammer to malice
Give war!
The 1000 gears gather under 1 guide, and the Song leads the way to the seed’s desired form
Rejoice and Sing
Under the sacred theory of love, in which the world’s irrationality- bug-will not be permitted
The world weaves grief anew
The chain of sadness remains unbroken
Only destruction will heal the land
The sound of control reverberates
It is the breath of the powerful people that wards off the night
The girl uses the power of the box to slay the night
Grant me the power to command death
It is a forbidden box
It must never be doubted
Or else the world would be stricken with despair
The girl has nothing to lose if the one that should have been saved is dead
O retainers
Rage, cry out, and awaken
Now conquer, let the footsteps of this army resound in the inviolable sanctuary
Sing, use all the power you have
We will take back that which was stolen
We are of the Divine Maiden
We will happily become a Song
We are the Divine Maiden’s spear
We will happily Sing
We are the Divine Maiden’s hope, as well as her grief
Give death to death
Give fear!
Give pain even further pain
Give suffering!
Give control a leader
Give grief!
Give atonement for fault
Give condemnation!
The 1000 gears gather under 1 guide, and the Song attains the seed’s desired form
Rejoice and Sing
Under the sacred theory of love, cast away by paradise
The world strives for a new countenance
The awakened transformation will remain unstopped
Only sleep will heal the land
The clattering of the gears advances the second hand towards a new world
Even the Goddess is entranced by the Song conducted and tuned with care
Thus the ancient canopy is repainted under a new theory

METHOD_MESSELA/.- Feelings Contained in the Song+ Explanations
For Stellatram’s rendition of the song METHOD_MESSELA/. from Hymmnos Chronicle, they included 2 feelings contained sections (The story in the hymn crystal and Infel’s feelings) as well as an explanation of Pastalie words they came up with based on existing words, and a general explanation, all of which I’ve translated below. This is from the special section of their site for Hymmnos Chronicle - LINK
I’ve also translated the lyrics myself too, since this is a very context heavy song that’s important to me, so I wanted to do it myself. They can be found here:

Feelings Contained in this Song
It is said that box must never be opened.
In a certain village, there was a girl blessed with God’s power. She was revered by the people of the village as “the child who shines with God’s radiance” who is said to be born once every several hundred years in that village. The girl herself was also aware of this, and used so called “miracles” to do things such as making rain fall, or creating fire.
The girl was also the guardian of a certain box called the “forbidden box”. It was a mysterious square box that reached as high as her waist, with a deep blue lacquer and no seams. It was a sacred and taboo presence that could not be opened by anyone besides her, and she herself was not even allowed to touch it, much less open it. Since childhood, she had been told the same thing over and over again about the box from the head of the village. “Open this box if a crisis befalls the village. But until then, you must never touch it.” The obedient girl took those instructions to heart. And she had faith she would never go against them.
The girl held God within her, and was treated as a noble. And so ever since her power manifested, she was isolated from the commoners, and wasn’t permitted to come into contact with anyone besides high ranking individuals such as the handmaids, priests, and the head of the village. But the girl thought of herself as a normal person, as she was no different from the other people of the village besides the fact that she had power, so she lived her life feeling very constrained. Her sole source of enjoyment was her secret meetings, where her childhood friend would come to her room once a week. Naturally, these meetings were not permitted. The girl knew even she herself would not be able to escape being severely punished if word got out, but even so, she was unable to let go of that time she spent with her childhood friend every week. And those secret meetings had also become her reason to live, so she and her childhood friend would love each other through the window one night out of the week, keeping extremely quiet.
With that, the girl slowly learned the preciousness of love, and was weaving miracles filled with love with each passing day- she made the lives of the people of the village much more prosperous. The priests and handmaidens simply put all their faith in the girl’s divine powers, having no way of knowing the source of those miracles.
The days passed as such for a number of years, until one night. Her childhood friend, who had never once messed up the date and time of their meetings, did not show up at the usual time. The girl flew out of her room, uneasiness suddenly starting to rise in her chest, and asked a question to one of the priests. “Has something happened?” The priest replied to her question with pride. “We received notice from several villagers that a thief had broken into the shrine precincts, and have managed to arrest said thief without incident thanks to the search party we dispatched.” Her face turned pale. “Where are they now?” “Ah”, the priest replied, even more prideful. “The thief will soon be executed in the village plaza as a warning.” The girl rushed out of the palace, giving the priest no time to stop her, and ran to the plaza, gasping for breath. There she found several priests about to pierce her crucified childhood friend with spears, and the villagers, most of who were watching with interest. The girl stopped the priests just in time. And she calmly told the priests “I will deal with the thief myself, please wait a bit longer”, before returning to the palace alone.
The girl made her way back to the palace and without hesitation, entered the room containing the box- She touched “it” and spoke- “Give me the power to eradicate the traitorous people and the blind priests.”
The girl and her childhood friend, who just shivered in fear, were alone in the village plaza where everyone besides the two of them had lost their lives. She lifted up her shivering friend and whispered in their ear. “You were scared, weren’t you. But it’s okay now. Let’s continue to live in happiness in our country of two.”
Those lowly, ignorant people who envied our future, our hope, our peace, and betrayed paradise.
The cruel, merciless Goddess and her envoy who stole away the one who was everything to me.
Punishment for crime.
Judgement for sinners.
- Betrayal for betrayal.
O my mediocre, idiotic retainers. Realize, that incompetence of yours tore apart her and my future.
Yes, the incompetent should be united under the ideas of a superior authority. – Out of compassion, I did not force this upon you. But you repaid this compassion with enmity, did you not?
Servitude for the incompetent.
Unify your thoughts completely under those of your master.
You will finally be able to become gears in the sacred theory.
Ahh, such sorrow. So sorrowful that I might go mad. No, perhaps I’ve already gone mad.
But it’s still too soon for that, right Nenesha? I must carry out your revenge. I must act on your anger. So just watch Nenesha, even your revenge will be perfect……
Love into the irrationality of the world.
The dear Maiden’s beloved seed will dispel the sweeping darkness of malice.
Now all of your feelings will converge into a single divine spear under this one love.
Now I will open the forbidden box. I won’t hesitate. Because this box will surely realize my– our ideals.
O my now noble and competent subjects. We will rid ourselves of the evil Goddess of folly under the guide of this love. We will call forth the full power of the Chosen Song and destroy our bitter enemy.
No one will be able to stop us with the power of love on our side.
I won’t forgive them.
They shouldn’t be forgiven.
I can’t forgive them.
Those lowly, ignorant people who envied our future, our hope, our peace, and betrayed paradise.
The cruel, merciless Goddess and her envoy who stole away the one who was everything to me.
– Our future was cut off.
So I’ll do it next. I’ll cut off the world’s entire future.
Paradise is under the guide of Homura and Mio.

Explanation of Special Vocabulary
We are publishing the corresponding translations of the New Testament of Pastalie nouns with emotion vowels attached to the beginning of the word that were used in the lyrics of MESSELA.
There’s no problem in translating them the same way the “A” series was explained on the hymmnoserver, but we are using our sense as singers to give them a more liberal translation, like how words such as “LYAsiann” are translated.
Asiann:My light, the feelings of the flame (Homura)
LYOceku:Army, vanguard
LYOlyuma:Leader, commander
LYIsphaela:The world that should be destroyed
LYUkouf:Rotten breath
LYIarhou:The forbidden box, Messela mode
Oraudl:The unsightly side of myself
Araudl:The “me” I want to become
LYOsiance:Battlefield
Agral:All of me (Infel), theory
Nqejyu:The ignorant people, incompetence
LYAeje:Our hearts, collective will
Aceku:My brethren, retainers
METHOD_MESSELA/. Is the control Song used to switch Infel Phira to Messela (forced control) mode in “emergencies”.
By performing a one-directional opening of the IPDs’ boundary gates, it allows all IPDs to share the same knowledge without sharing consciousness, so their actions are controlled by the Queen, regardless of their own wills. It was sealed away as a taboo hymmnos for being too inhumane.
In Hymmnos Chronicle, we are assuming that Infel used Messela to take revenge on the Goddess and the people after losing Nenesha in the failure of Metafalica.
Such “emergencies” where Messela would be used might be harm befalling the Maiden of Homura, or as an escort if such a fear exists.
It can be said that harm befalling the Maiden of Homura, who is indispensable for singing Metafalica, would be an emergency for the Maiden of Mio as well as for Metafalss.
However, Messela is different from Replekia, which also has military use, in that it is forced control as opposed to the voluntary cooperation required from the IPDs when using Replekia. Even if enemy forces are eliminated as intended, the explosion of distrust from the IPDs afterwards cannot be avoided. Therefore the warning of “if it is used, it’s something that can never be undone” and the message of “even if she achieves her goals, she will lose many things in return” are woven into the feelings contained in the Song centering on the theme of the “forbidden box”.
More specifically, if we take the villagers who notified the priests of the childhood friend’s trespassing to be “traitors (aggressors)”, the priests trying to execute the friend as “a military threat”, and the lives of the people who were eradicated as “trust”, it shows the relationship between one’s goals and the price that must be paid to achieve them.
It’s implied that the shivering childhood friend in the final scene can be interpreted as “not only shivering at the fact that the villagers had perished, but at the ominous girl who did that to them as well.” Through the deep element of tragedy in that “even if she accomplishes all her goals and even accepts the price she must pay, she ends up being feared by the one she truly wanted to save”, you further get the sense that “it must not be used”.
In other words, an awareness that “Messela is inhumane to the point that not only will you come under fire from the IPDs who serve as your retainers as well as from the people, but you might even lose the trust of the one you rescued” was shared under the engineering ethics of the time.
The forbidden box that must not be opened- it is a dreadful hope demanding compensation. But there was nothing to lose for the girl who had already lost the one she wished to save. And so the girl laid her hand on that box without hesitation.
