Don't you think Ravenclaws do that too, sometimes? I don't know who'd be better at BSing assignments than someone who is put in the house that says "wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure." Just 'cause they want to learn doesn't mean they want to learn everything in every class...
a. good heavens you actually gave a well-punctuated response to a casual reblog this was not the message i was expecting
b. i think those saddled with cunning and ambition are much more likely to bs anything than someone associated with a phrase like wit beyond measure is man’s greatest treasure. slytherins are generally smart*, and want to do well, but they tend to use that intelligence to creatively get out of whatever it is they want to avoid. ravenclaws are more apt to pursue knowledge for knowledge’s own sake. that’s where the whole greatest treasure bit comes in.
i’m sure there are individual exceptions, but generally speaking, i think the original post stands. a ravenclaw might bs the occasional assignment, and a slytherin probably actually studies now and then. but don’t expect either one of them to admit to it.
c. i’d imagine some of them are mandatory, but aren’t the majority of the classes elective, anyway? and even for the classes that are required, a ravenclaw will look at them and consider the fact that they’re required as being indicative of importance, and therefore invest their time and effort.
and now back to reblogging butts.
* i honestly have no idea how crabbe and goyle made it into slytherin. they are neither cunning nor particularly ambitious. if anything, they’re much more hufflepuffy in their tendencies towards loyalty. please note i am NOT knocking hufflepuffs, just pointing out that c&g are terrible slytherins and woud’ve probably been decent chaps if they hadn’t been loafing around with malfoy all the time. they’re really more misguided hobbits than anything.
