It’s admittedly not the best plan. Not her finest moment either. Hiding underneath the bed she knew her best friend was sleeping in that week, fully intending to do whatever possible to spook him. They’d always liked joking around with one another, right from the start, but recently? Recently, that laughter had faltered slightly. It was Camila’s own fault. She knew that. She got too caught up in her own head and let those thoughts run wild. It was stupid. More importantly, it was reckless. Noah had become such an important presence in the woman’s life and she couldn’t risk losing that. Wouldn’t risk losing it. That was why they’d never had that conversation before and they shouldn’t have had it now. Nonetheless, they had. They weren’t able to un-have it either, however, Cami also couldn’t allow it put distance between them. She thought she could, but she couldn’t. In a way, this plan was a bonding tactic. An attempt to ease them back into normalcy if he ever showed up. The Riverdale actress had almost fallen asleep by the time footsteps finally approached and she stayed perfectly still, waiting for Noah to settle before starting. Not even daring to breathe, Camila moved as silently as possible, scraping a metal fork against the wooden bed base above her to make an eerie scratching sound. And so it began.

Camila wasn’t avoiding Noah. Okay, fine. That was a complete lie. She was avoiding Noah, but she hadn’t meant to. She’d only ever meant to give them space. A day or two to let the grass grow after overhearing a conversation she would’ve been better never knowing about. That was all it was supposed to be, but then those two days became three and three days became a week. It went on and on. The longer she let it go, the harder it became to approach him. The last thing Cami ever wanted was to cause more problems. It seemed easier to keep distant. He’d find her, if he needed her and don’t think it hadn’t gone unnoticed that he hadn’t. That was fine though, Cami got it. He was with Selena and, despite popular belief, she was happy for him. Things would work out in the end. She believed everything that happened always had a reason. Or at least, she did until this moment. Walking into the seating area, Camila froze when she spotted another figure already there. ‘No.’ His nickname was spoken before she had a chance to even pretend she’d never been there. Not that it mattered. Truffle had already wriggled free and bounced towards the actor, announcing their presence with loud, excited barks. ‘Sorry,’ she murmured, following her fluffball’s paws. ‘It looks like somebody missed you.’
