MESSWELL LIVES
BROWN: [Jonathan Marc Sherman] did the 24-hour plays on Broadway in December and he wrote the funniest one with Sam Rockwell in it, where all of the other characters were doing their best impression of Sam Rockwell—Billy Crudup, Justin Long. O'BRIEN: Justin Long does a good one. I've seen Justin Long's. That's so funny, I know a guy who does a great Sam Rockwell, one of his friends, this guy Mike, and he does dead-on Rockwell. BROWN: I didn't know that was a thing—who can do the best Sam Rockwell. O'BRIEN: I think it's just his friends though. Justin's friends with Sam, so they just hang out all the time.
Tom O'Brien in Interview Magazine
I want to see a video where Chris Messina and Sam Rockwell interview each other, only Messina does his best Rockwell and Rockwell does his best Messina. And then Ike Barinholtz impersonates both of them.
This can be when Sam Rockwell inevitably guest stars on the Mindy Project.
(I should just work for the Fox Lounge, if that's even a position).
Credits good friend Sam Rockwell with helping to champion his work. “Every part he turns down he tells the director, ‘You know who would be better for this?’” says Messina. “He always does that. He’s the greatest guy.” Chris Messina, 2009 Backstage article "There's so many great actors that I would love to come on the show. Sam Rockwell. He's amazing." -Chris Messina, Goldderby Interview, June 2013 "John Kelly fudge is so good it made me want to write a boyfriend on #themindyproject who is a chocolatier, played by, like, Sam Rockwell." - Mindy Kaling's instagram, November 10, 2013 "What's good off-Broadway? Like I wanna see Chris Messina and Sam Rockwell in 2003 and they're 28 in a Pinter play all frowning and stuff. And maybe after the play you can flirt with the actors in an east village bar and they let you try on their newsboy caps." Mindy Kaling's tweets, December 22, 2013 "I'm charmed constantly by his [Chris Messina's] great friend, Sam Rockwell. I think he can do anything. He's wonderful. He's so funny and so great...He's a great dancer. I can only have him on the show and he and Danny have to hate each other. That would be the only fun way to use him." - Mindy Kaling, Paley Fest, March 25, 2014 "I'm jealous of Sam Rockwell. I look at Sam Rockwell and everything he does...He does so many cool movies. He does whatever he wants. He's good in *everything.* It's a kind of jealousy...we're so different or whatever...but he can do comedy, he can do drama. He can *dance.* He's just one of these...you know Johnny Carson when he hosted the Tonight Show he was so elegant because he had taken dance lessons? There's a kind of actor that does that - that's very cool. It seems old timey. And Sam, to me, embodies that thing that I feel like I could never be...He doesn't care that a sitcom actress is so into him. He's amazing to me. He's amazing." - Mindy Kaling, Hollywood Reporter Roundtable filmed May 10, 2014 "I'm obsessed with Sam Rockwell. He's so cool. I always pick actors whose energy seems really different than me. I love his movies he's done...I always think of people that I'd want to work with and work backwards." - Mindy Kaling, Live Chat with LA Times, June 11, 2014
Will he or won't he...
