Off-timer meta events maybe worth your time
I've been doing a bunch of event chains that aren't on the timers recently, and a lot of people don't know about these! So here's some info on what they are and why you should keep an eye on them, if that's your sort of thing :)
"In Pursuit of Knowledge" meta event, with the boss "Champion Dredge Commissar" which takes place in Dredgehaunt Cliffs
This event chain is largely soloable. The boss at the end is a champion, but fairly squishy. It's good karma to call out the boss though, so that will help if you're not super comfortable on your class :)
Once per day chest loot, event repsawns every 20 minutes and events in the region must be complete first. Notably those in Fridgardr Lodge and Firebase Molek areas.
This event does occasionally bug, and you can identify it if the meta says "The dredge and the Priory are competing for the center camps." without any active events at Fridgardr Lodge or Firebase Molek.
Map shows the events in the region that must be complete, and the boss appears bottom left of the map.
Sought after reward: Commissar's Manifesto (exotic version) currently goes for around 200g
"Ogre Wars" meta event with the boss "Champion Foulbear Chieftain" which takes place in Fields of Ruin.
This event chain is largely soloable, but again it's good karma to call it out on map chat so others can get in on the fun. I wouldn't call it out on map until you get to the point of assaulting the Kraal for reasons explained below though.
Once per day chest loot.
There's two main areas in the region that must be under ally control. Sapper's Delve to the South and Bloodgorge Watch to the North West. The main event takes place at Foulbear Kraal.
This meta event is notorious for stalling at various stages. Namely talking to npcs with the event icon above their heads doing nothing. No way to fix it other than to come back later and hope for a different map instance.
This event chain has a bit of talking from NPCs / waiting for them to get in place. So it's easy to think stuff has stalled, when really they're just getting in to place. So hang around for a moment after the events, and look for npcs nearby to talk to. Especially Maybri Shadowstalker over at Bloodgorge
Sought after rewards: Sam (exotic version). Goes for around 400g
The last one strictly isn't a meta event chain, but just gets called "Eye of Zhaitan" event chain, or "Zho'qafa Catacombs". As the name would suggest, it takes place in Zho'qafa Catacombs in Straits of Devastation
Largely soloable again, but when it comes to the escort, I would call it out in map chat and throw up a mentor/commander pin, as the parts inside there can be very ouchy.
This one takes a while to set up, so it's not super popular, but people do like it when it's up.
It starts off in the Catacombs and there's a bunch of coffins to kill. Shortly after that three events pop up one after the other. 2 are inside the catacombs, and it's just to kill a vet each, and the final one is to the west at the exit of the catacombs to kill another vet.
After this there's a 20~ minute waiting period. Go off and do other stuff like other events, gathering, go run the jump puzzle, whatever.
After the 20 minutes, over to the East south of "Blighted Battleground" there will be an event to take down an anti-aircraft gun in the swampy area. Shortly after this a squad will land via helicopter and you have to escort them to, and then through the Catacombs.
If you want to help fellow players, keep the waypoint at Waywarde Way open. It's just guarded by an easy to kill veteran.
Inside the catacombs there's a bunch of mobs to kill, a risen brute or two which can be pretty ouchie. And finally the boss, the eye of Zhaitan. He spawns as invulnerable and the npcs blab for a bit, so dont blow your cooldowns right away. Kill the boss. Done! If you want to be polite to fellow players, do the event to escort the npcs out of the catacombs so that the event chain can start up again in 20 minutes.
Sought after rewards: Pendant of Arah (exotic version). Goes for around 400g.
Hope you find this useful, and good luck on the $lol drops. They are pretty rare so you might not see one for a long time. But it's some nice activities to do / keep an eye on when you're traveling around those regions. Enjoy! :)
