How in the world do you get so many aggressive anonymous asks? Goodness...

To be honest, I've only gotten a handful in the past few weeks, but they've all been in response to critiques I've made of both Kinn and Porsche. I guess because calling out the characters for their harmful actions equates to me hating them? I don't know. Some people really just want to pick a fight I guess.

But in any case, I'm really glad for asks and love answering them! ❤️ I just don't like the idea of people hiding behind their "anon" label when all they're doing is laying on insults. Disagreements are great, but foul language is unwarranted and immature.

Check, Please! and the Impact of Fiction

I'm going to clue you in right now, this is not going to be a well organized post. It's not going to be the most iconic thing you will ever read. Fuck, it might not even change your mind, but I am going to try.

In the past few days, I've seen lots and lots of criticism for Check, Please! Year 3 and I have to say that, while I understand consuming fiction with a critical eye, what I cannot understand is trashing an author for making a safe place.

(Check, Please!, for those not in the know, is a romantic comedy webcomic featuring a pie making college hockey captain and his NHL player boyfriend. The comic is sweet and light-hearted, generally a very pleasant read. There's been exactly one in universe usage of homophobic language and, while it was not punished or called out, it was shut down. So, clearly, this comic is not meant to reflect our society as a mirror but as a betterment.)

This is the part where I get personal. I have used fiction my whole life as a way to escape many things. Bullying, suicidal thoughts, unmedicated mental illness, sexual and emotional abuse as a child. The list goes on. And while I do enjoy light hearted media, I am also able to process and enjoy dark media was well.

However, not everyone can. Some people don't want to see dark content in their media because they see enough of it at home and on the news. Real life is a fucking crapshoot and I don't blame anyone for not wanting their media to be a fucking crapshoot as well.

Do I think we need dark, gritty media? Yes. Do I think we, as a world, need to see the horrors of reality reflected in our entertainment? Sure. It's very important. But do I think every peice of fiction needs to be realistically dark? Fuck. No.

My point to all this, lengthy as it may be, is that while we, as a world, need dark, gritty, realistic media... Not every <i>person</i> does.

Some people just need a happy-go-lucky comic about pie, hockey, and unapologetically in love boys.

So while he knows nothing of what Aiko and Satoru are talking about if they stop being friends with him I’m not sure how he will react. He will defiantly be hurt though. And angry but mostly hurt.

I dont' write a lot of these, but I had a meta idea for Supernatural that I wanted to share.

Just as a warning, this contains spoilers for ALL Supernatural seasons.

What if Supernatural is taking place all in Sam's head?

He leaves his father and brother, and something happens. His father lingers in a coma for a while and then dies. His brother dies as well. So Sam snaps. He imagines this world where his brother is still alive and they fight to make the world a better place.

It is why Dean has died more then Sam. Because Dean was always the protector and reality tries to reassert itself on Sam. Maybe that whole 'soulless' period was him trying to live in the real world and he felt like he was disconnecting from Dean...or maybe switching back and forth between reality and his head. Maybe the 'Cage' he was in was reality without his brother.

It would also explain why he didn't look for Dean while Dean was in purgatory. If he was more or less stable, he wouldn't need to find Dean until his world fell apart with his girlfriend (sorry random girlfriend, I can't remember your name) and then he regressed.

From guilt for leaving his family. What if Meg, and Charlie are also current inmates? What if Ruby, also an inmate, was demonized not because she was bad, but because Sam had feelings for her and he couldn't cope with 'abandoning' his brother again?

What if the reason Cas is an 'angel' is because he is a doctor or nurse who really tries to work with Sam? Who helps work on his connection to the real world (or is another inmate who Sam has seen like an older brother figure)? What if Crowley is a doctor who isn't working on his guilt but instead just ordering medicine, medicine that might not be working?

What if Bobby really was the person who took care of Sam and Dean all those years and had been visiting Sam and telling him stories, not knowing that the stories were going into the reality in Sam's head? Then when he found out how his stories had been incorporated decided that visiting as often might not be helping (and thus, in Sam's head, died).

What if "Closing the Doors to Hell" was really just giving up the illusion and healing? Which is why Dean stopped it, because Dean is the part of Sam that can't stop, that still feels guilty about leaving to go to school?

What if there are no monsters, just guilt. Just a single dad whose wife died in a house fire, who was on the road looking for work and dragged his kids around except for when they could stay with Uncle Bobby who had cool stories about supernatural creatures?

I think it makes the whole series much sadder.
