I once reblogged a post someone made about how it is odd when fanfictions position Kinn as the possessive one when Porsche is canonically more aligned with this trait.
Which, to be clear, is true! I'm not here to dispute it, but more expand on it because I find Porsche's possessiveness interesting especially when you take in account his background.
While writing, I occasionally ask myself what attracts the KinnPorsche ships to each other. VegasPete is very much the way they match each other's freaks (Vegas complexes verses Pete's brutal honesty), and KimChay is a mix between idolisation and different world views.
But when I think about KinnPorsche, I always thought about why Kinn is attracted to Porsche (wildcard who disregards the mafia's rules, values family, emotionally more open, protective when Kinn is busy protecting his family), but when I got to why Porsche was attracted to Kinn I was always displeased by the way my brain kept immediately latching onto Kinn's wealth.
However, looking back, it isn't really Kinn's wealth I believe Porsche is attracted to but more the security Kinn provides him.
Porsche's life was marked by so much hardship. His parents died when he was young leaving him behind to raise his younger brother. The parental figure in their life was nothing more than a lie and squandered their money. Porsche worked three jobs (bartending, underground fighting, and sex work) while (briefly implied) attending university all so he could save up for Porchay's university fund.
(Side note, one of the reasons I don't believe Porsche is as bad in the Porsche-Porchay conflict as some fanfic writers will have you believe is because AT NO POINT does Porsche every suggest Porchay get a "real job" instead of music. Porsche very much encourages Porchay to chase his dreams in the arts by saving up to pay for a prestigious music-centric university. That is a whole other post though.)
Porsche is attracted to security.
This is one of the reasons Vegas' manipulation worked. Porsche was in a new environment where he was eating shit, regularly. Vegas swooped in with reassurance and security, and Porsche fell for it because he lacked it. This is reflected in how as soon as Porsche got a supoort system in Tankhun and his bodyguards, he immediately started improving.
Plus, as someone who was money conscious, he wasn't going to refuse a Ducati from Vegas (honestly, Big or Ken could've offered him it for free and he would've took it).
Which is why Porsche reacts so... ridiculous when his security is threatened. Outside of Kinn, he immediately caved to blackmail when Porchay was threatened. He played nicer with Kinn when Yok told him to because his job was threatened. It is only natural when Tawan enters the picture, Porsche goes even more ballistic with his jealousy because Tawan is the biggest threat to the security he's found with Kinn.
(Another point about how Porsche goes crazy when his security is threaten is Porsche always snaps into shape when someone he cares for is in danger like Porchay being kidnapped, punching Vegas in the face for Pete, and running in saving Kinn during a coup.)
