Is the unusual, near-mono recording of Canadian blackened death metal band Metaladian the result of a bad mixing job, and an example of the pitfalls of self-recording? Or are the band forward-thinking iconoclasts who are pioneering a new production style, like the Norwegian second wavers? Time will tell, I suppose. The debut album Deaditation is out now.
