A special project, my fiance's engagement ring 🐍

Before getting engaged earlier this year, my fiance and I wanted to each make a ring to give to each other. He chose to create mine from one of the beach stones I'd collected and I 3D modelled his that was metal cast! It features a red belly black ouroboros, one of his favourite snakes.

I'm over the moon with how the ring turned out (it was a smiiiidge delayed but worth it!) and I'm so glad he loves it too, I had a plan B prepared just in case the cast didn't work but it looks like I didn't need to worry!

I think this is every design I've made & completed that belongs in my current pewter portfolio. I've been casting a long time and unseen are the MANY MANY MANY MANY castings I've made of each design over time. Do I have a decent spread of species? A bunch more skulls will be incoming. Remolding my femur bone hair stick design. Molding bobcat jawbone to replace the skunk jawbone until I can find another one (mine is MIA).

Some of these are sold, some of them aren't, but here's a small taste of what I've been working on since 2017. I am dusting off Tumblr and am preparing to mold some new skull and bone models so keep an eye out for announcements about the next pewter drop! You can also sign up for a simple mailing list on my website; it's literally a single image spread that shows up from the studio email advertising what's coming, prices, and drop time. That might be easier for some!

This is how bells were made in the 1700s, when the Liberty Bell was cast.

The Liberty Bell was commissioned in 1751 from the Whitechapel Foundry in London. It was hung in the Pennsylvania State House in 1753, but a crack was quickly noticed and the bell was melted down and recast twice in America with more copper being added. The bell got its current crack sometime in the early 19th century. Supposedly the metal mix consists of 70 percent copper, 25 percent tin, and a little lead, zinc, gold, silver, and arsenic.
