She's heard about him. Metal Sonic. A badnik created in the image of Sonic the hedgehog, a copy in a metal frame, a madman's attempt to double a saint —— ah. She's doing it again. The first time she'd heard about Metal Sonic, she'd felt nauseous despite having a body that shouldn't be capable of that. Staring at him now, she feels a same. They are the same.

She can't read his — well, not expression. But she can't read the other's intentions as he approaches her. She's in Robotnik tech, so maybe it's the familiarity? Or maybe he can sense that she's a Robotnik herself, somehow? Her hands raise, nervous. Shadow or Sonic aren't here to protect her right now, and worse she can't stop thinking about the fact that all she is is a copy, same as him. "Um — I — you're Metal Sonic?" She thinks about introducing herself as Metal Maria but doesn't know if the badnik has a sense of humor.

Obviously I feel a strong kinship with Metal Sonic. Obviously he does not return it. We are similar in many ways, but where I have choice, Metal gets his denied at every turn. It's frustrating, knowing that he's been able to break free from the Doctor's control in his past, but never quite being able to get there in time to get him to understand he doesn't have to exist like this. He is happy living in servitude to the Doctor, and maybe I should just respect that he has made his choice and cannot be swayed and he is deserving of the same ruthlessness I give everyone else... but I cannot understand why any living weapon like us should want to feel indebted to anyone. We are beyond that. Sonic has always spoke of people following their hearts, and none of that is in Metal. It's ironic for one who is always touting himself as the real Sonic.
